TNG DVDs being "discontinued by the manufacturer"

But the DS9 cases started splitting on me as soon as I took the shrink wrap off them. Even back in he early 2000's I could see that paramount's quality control for Seaon sets went way down. Paramount kind of set the bar for TV shows on DVD, but then under performed for the remaining Trek releases (except the Animated Series, but CBS was handling that release).

I hear this all the time. But I've had those sets for years and never had an issue with the cases splitting.

I never had this problem, either. Only my season six broke, and that's because I dropped it on a tile floor and the whole thing exploded. It was kind of awesome, except that I was worried the discs were ruined. They weren't. So... it was kind of awesome.

On the subject of packaging (silly question - I am new to Blu-ray), how do you take discs out without them "bending". What I mean is, for DVD's you'd depress that little "button" in the centre of the disc and it would release it from the packaging safely. This doesn't seem to work with my TNG Blu-ray's.

Also a silly observation. I was reminded of this thread when I saw the TNG VHS's for sale in a local charity shop at 20p each! But even then I thought them overpriced! (I think that works out at 40 cents each?)

Well, you'd believe it if you saw my cases with scotch tape on them holding the different parts together (and the tape has even worn off my Season 5, so the part that folds over the non-spine side if the disc holders just slides right off as soon as I pull it out of he case).

Never said I didn't believe it, just that I've personally had no issues with the cases in question.
