TNG avatar cont. #1: Encounter at Farpoint/fav. TNG character/Off Trek

Hello, since TNG is the only series without an avatar contest, I want to start one, if that is O.K. with the mods and residents of this forum. If not, just shoot me down and ignore the rest of the post.


I would like to copy the format of the DS9 contest:

You can enter avatars until Friday 7 pm CET, when I will start the poll which will run for three days until monday evening. (Since it's already thursday we will have an eight day entry period this time)

There will be three categories:

Episode, Theme and Random Theme. Avatars for the first two categories must come from TNG, the random theme entry can be about absolutely anything. The winner of each category decides what "his/her" category will be about in the next contest.

We could start with the following:

Episode: Encounter at Farpoint (both parts)
Theme: Favorite TNG character
Random Theme: Off Trek (appearances by Star Trek actors outside of Star Trek)

The avatars have to stay in the boards limits for avatars: max. 140x140, 70kb.

Count me IN! Thing is, I dunno whether to make an all new avatar for the theme or use one of my many premade avatars? Hmm... Decisions, decisions

I think it's okay if you use a premade avatar. If it fits one of the categories ...

I guess your theme avatar won't be very surprising, though.

There's no problem if you use premade avatars. If you already have something that fits, just use it.

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of pinning lots of stuff to the top of forums (I tend to feel most threads should live or die on their own merit/popularity), but since it's the done thing across the other series forums for avatar contests, fair enough.

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of pinning lots of stuff to the top of forums (I tend to feel most threads should live or die on their own merit/popularity), but since it's the done thing across the other series forums for avatar contests, fair enough.

No, not uncomfortable about doing it at all. It's all your collective forum - like Guinan, I'm happy to listen to what you all want and offer occasional thoughts in response and go with the flow. And occasionally, I'll get the Saurian Brandy out. Though, like Guinan, I also keep a huge laser rifle under the bar if it gets too rowdy...

I'm guessing it's Columbo. Never seen the show; but I read about Shatner guesting on it as some kind of psycho.

I remember their "special guest stars" from each episode. I have the DVD's but haven't watched it since I got the discs last year
