TMP Uniforms

Weren't the TWOK uniforms a reuse of TMP's ones? They were dyed red and changed but it was the same material.

They reused Bones's doctor jacket, the jumpsuits, and the engineering suits, but the monster maroons were totally new.

You're thinking of the background performers' jumpsuits. The main cast's uniforms were clearly quite different in TWOK.

So? He could have been referring to anything.

Look, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying he could have been more specific about which uniforms he was asking about.

The enlisted uniforms in TWOK were redyed, redetailed versions of much of the TMP wardrobe.

The producers asked Fletcher to see what colors the steel-grey and tan outfits would take. He came up with a blue, a gold, and a rust-red. They went with the red.

The implication there, BTW, is that the color of the whole wardrobe - the officers uniforms included - was based on the economies to be derived from the extras' outfits.

The TWOK enlisted uniforms were indeed TMP costumes that had been dyed red and altered.

What part of this aren't you getting?

The original post Saul made:

...which was the only post I read when I replied with my initial "No."

Since then, My Name Is Legion and others have pointed out why that's not a complete (and mostly wrong) answer.

I'm not denying that it was wrong. Or that it's an incomplete answer. I do maintain though, that my answer is perfectly fine in response to the question as Saul wrote it (i.e. not specifying which uniforms in TWOK he's asking about). As written, the logical assumption is that he is asking about the hero uniforms that Shatner, Nimoy, Kelley, et al wore throughout the film.

So how about we quit with the splitting hairs and move forward?

It's really just a case you gave an incorrect answer. There were TWOK costumes that had been altered ones from TMP.

Y'know, I've often wondered if they dyed and re-used some of the Motion Picture--

Oh, never mind.

^At least in that case there was an actual disagreement. You two are wasting hundreds of words on the fact that you conveyed the same information in slightly different ways.

*sigh*

I'm not sure there's any other way I can reiterate my desire to drop this pointless issue and move on without actually dragging it out further.
