I spotted the tricorder from Star Trek: The Motion Picture in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, it is in the Starfleet headquarters scene.

In response to the OP: Why is that surprising or notable?

You'd imagine tech devices would be pretty standard around the fleet.

Re-use of props isn't so unusual from one movie to the next, but my favourites would be: Uhura's earpiece in TMP - on the first day of principal photography, Nichelle Nichols said, "Where's my earpiece?" Everyone was aghast. Noone had throught to design or make one; both Uhura and Spock had used them in TOS. A few minutes later a perfect earpiece was placed into Nichelle's hand: someone rummaged sold old prop drawers from the TOS days... and found an original TOS version.

The backpack vaccuum cleaner prop, seen early in both TMP and ST II, is also being raced into the melee during a red alert later in ST II. Now that's what I call anticipation!

The small tribble being patted by the grey-haired, red-shirted crewman (TOS writer, David Gerrold, in cameo) in "Trials and Tribble-ations" is the only tribble to have also appeared in "The Trouble with Tribbles".

I can see where the fascination would be. I've sort of made a game of watching the TOS films and trying to spot the rented electronic gadgets from Modern Props (mostly in TWOK and TSFS).

Which props?
