They also explain the deflector dish changing colors. It is gold/brown when it is in a low power state because the engines are powered down, and turns blue when the engines are online.

It was interesting, but it didn't seem particularly fresh...iow, not a lot of new info (yes, I rewatched the whole movie with the commentary playing, though I think I was 2 or 3 seconds off in a couple places).

I hated the way they kept cutting each other off. Like when Daren was about to explain what that disc on V'ger was made out of...then he was interrupted and we don't get the rest.
