TMP never happened

Sure, but you rebutted my post about ST III's Klingons having individualized foreheads by saying, "The individualized foreheads didn't happen till TFF". And that was not correct.

On a special on the History Channel, Mike Westmore just took credit for creating the "modern" Klingon look. He observed that on TOS they just used "brown makeup," and then said he created the ridged forehead look for the first modern Klingon -- Worf.

I knew he was creatively bankrupt; I didn't know he was morally bankrupt.
Doesn't matter. TMP establishes that there are simply two distinct types of Klingons: the TOS kind and the latter TMP kind. And ENT's explanation is bullshit--what it says is unimportant and we do not hear their words.

I have no need to swipe at modern Trek. It can lay there genital warts and all for all to see like a $12 whore just fine without me.

Does it? It just has a ship load of guys called Klingons, with no explanation given.

Nah ... Warped9 accidentally fell into a suspended animation tube while he was delivering pizza and he's trying to pick up life where he left off.

Mind you, I kind of like it when someone resurrects old threads. For one thing, it keeps the thread monster from consuming them when they're past their sell-by date.

^Huh? B.S.? Who? Where? When? The last post before yours was on 03/03/2007. Why dig it up three months later to get your shots in?

Right on point, Neopeius!

Westmore created the "modern" Klingon. TMP and other early movies are sort of transitional forms with much less pronounced ridges, at least according to him. He says his Klingons are a complete redesign. Based on dinosaur vertebrae to hear him tell it.

So I don't think his words have much hyperbole to them.

I agree with your interpretation. Yes, there are differences to the ridges from TMP to TNG and beyond. But the essential look -- long hair, fangs, ridges -- are there from TMP on. So Westmore can say with a straight face that he created the modern Klingon, as long as we understand that the essential look was modified further.

Geez!

This is one of the funniest statements I've heard here in a while. If you have no need to swipe at modern Trek, why do you do it so often? Perhaps some kind of Tourrete's syndrome related to modern Trek? The poster doth protest too much, methinks!

Already have a box of Kleenex, thanks. :p

I was rewatching TNG's Heart of Glory, and the "Give Riker Q powers" episodes. Those Klingons had ST III foreheads.

Then I found out that originally the face was painted to match the forehead color. For TNG "Worf", The forehead was painted after the face was painted.

Worf's forehead 1st season forehead does look closer to TMP's.

ST VI's were confusing. The background character's foreheads were like ST IV's, Klaa's, and Gorkon's. But the other Character's weren't.

Mmmm...so, did Westie said it or not?

Ohh...the show isn't on yet. My bad. Return to the debate.
