Decker: NASA. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Jim, this was launched more than 300 years ago.

Kirk: Voyager series. Designed to collect data, and transmit it back to Earth.

 

[Leandar]

Decker: Captain, Voyager VI disappeared into what they used to call a black hole.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: It must have emerged on the far side of the galaxy and fallen into the machine planets gravitational field.

 

[Leandar]

Spock: The machine inhabitants found it to be one of their own kind. Primitive, yet kindred. They discovered it's simple twentieth century programming. Collect all data possible.

 

[Captain Mike]

DECKER: Learn all that is learnable,...and return that information to it's creator

 

[Leandar]

Spock: Precisely, Mr. Decker. The machines interpreted it literally. They built this entire vessel so that Voyager could fulfill its programming.

 

[Captain Mike]

KIRK: And on it's way back,..it amassed so much knowledge, it achieved consciousness itself.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: It became a living thing.

Kirk: Enterprise, order up the ships computer library records on the late 20th century NASA Probe 'Voyager 6'. Specifically, we want the old NASA code signal that instructs the probe to transmit it's data. And fast Uhura, fast!

UHURA: Aye, sir!

Kirk, And, fast Uhura, fast!

 

[DeVario]

DECKER: That's what it's been signalling, it's readiness to transmit.

 

[Jeyl]

Kirk: And there's no one on Earth who can recognize the old signal and send a response.

 

[DeVario]

MCCOY: The creator does not answer.

Kirk: Enterprise.
