Architecturally and logically it doesn't matter if it's an oval while the dome is circular. I've seen trapezoidal rooms under round domes in rectangular buildings. So what?

Circular saucer, circular dome, circular corridors surrounding an OVAL centre. Yes it could be built that way, but it does not flow naturally.

Agreed on the odd choice of shapes. It seems like they just recycled the same "base" for the bridge, corridor plaza and brig (which may be a redress of the corridor plaza) sets.

By this rationale the sickbay rooms seen in the film fit... nowhere.
