TMP-DE fully restored in 4K…it’s about time!

Give it time. I would be shocked if it’s not made an extra on the digital version after a time.
This happened with SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE, where the TV extended version was given its own release on disc and then was eventually added onto the iTunes extras. Not that it'll happen with TMP SLV, but it's certainly in the realm of possibilities.

I thought I would spend a bit of time experimenting with rotoscoping the TC at the weekend. I'm only part way through trying to clean this up and it will required a lot of experimentation to fine tune the edges but it looks like it might be possible to improve the quality of the actors. I'm a bit inexperienced with Adobe After Effects and image flicker might well prove to be too tricky. It might be that just focusing on the heads might be enough. I will carry on having a play.

At least space is now the right color. That's already a significant improvement over the blue, hazy mess of a "remaster" that was the 4K Paramount+ lounge scene!

Just a thought, but where's all the stuff we see in the lounge earlier in the film? I suppose it could be positioned behind those chairs, but it still seems pretty bare.

It looks kinda like old Blu-rays from 2009 - clean and smooth, almost no natural film grain, nothing close to how the movie from late 70s would look and nothing that I can enjoy. Theatrical remaster that I bought earlier looks way better to me, but after the fix mentioned in the last post, I may finally enjoy DE too.

Joined for something else, bashed DE just because this new edition deserves to be bashed as it is botched job in the style of so called Terminator 2 "remaster" or Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition, just not that bad as those two but still. Just as you may enjoy it, I may point out its flaws.

Yeah, you joined to bash Trek movies in 2 separate threads and then brag about how you "fixed" them. LOL.
Adios.
