TMNT-surprisingly good

The last time I saw a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie it was a bunch of guys in rubber suits and kinda goofy. I also saw the cartoon a few times. Basically it was a bunch of Cowabungas and pizza constantly. I remember I had a friend that had comics and the Turtles looked mean. They didn't look as friendly as on the cartoon. So when I saw a few minutes of the new TMNT while flipping through channels, I decided to record it.

The new TMNT is computer animated and was quite amusing. The Turtles look more reminiscent of those old drawings I saw of the Turtles. They were a little meaner. The characters like April and the Hockey Mask dude are there, but no Shredder. The new badguys look pretty cool. The fighting is good. Patrick Stewart does the voice of the new badguy leader.

I really got a kick out of the new armored night time vigilante and his fight against Leonardo. I'd definitely recommend the movie.

I liked the Turtle in-fighting stuff, but the plot of the ancient monsters coming to life was really, really lame.

I really liked the original live-action movie, and some stuff in it was WAY better than I had any right to expect...I was hoping someone would tell me that if I liked that movie, I'd like the more recent computer-animated one.

The first movie had some excellent qualities. The second was more dumbed-down and mediocre. The third was closer to the first in terms of intelligence and storytelling, but it was made without the involvement of the Henson Creature Shop, so the turtle suits were considerably inferior.

The CGI movie was fairly good, I thought. The story was somewhat unfocused, but it was well-done otherwise, and the animation was effective. Although it was meant to be a continuation of the live-action films, it had some elements very reminiscent of the 2003 animated TV series (which in turn was closely based on the original comics), notably the use of the Karai character. The Turtles' voices were also strikingly close to those in the animated series, although the performers were different. Plus, Mako as Splinter -- that's gold right there.

The fight between Leo and Raph was great. Plus Donny on tech support and Mikey as party clown was hilarious.

character stuff with the turtles was great. The plot... not so much.

I thought it was a pretty decent movie, but they sort of lost me with the Buffy O'Neil. I mean once she started swinging the katana around, I wanted to go dunk my head in a toilet.

Maybe it was because she was voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar? :p

Plus that is true to comics.

^^Not only is it true to the comics, but it just stands to reason that someone who hangs around with the Turtles and Casey would pretty much have to learn to defend herself sooner or later, given the kind of trouble she'd constantly be getting into. And it's not like she'd lack for teachers.
