"Invented by Emory Erickson" next to the transporter pad.

Now this makes me want to go over all the writing in the opening.

Love how they are flexible with elements of the opening from season to season.

No reason they couldn't change the opening of a show week to week, but making it season specific should be easy enough.

While Discovery’s sounds like something you hear in a elevator :)

I can't remember which commercial, but it reminds me of some music from an investment ad. Maybe one of the Ameritrade spots?

I do wish they'd done it at least for the first two episodes. It was really, really weird having an opening sequence based around a ship we didn't even see.

Nice tease of the Enterprise chair. I have a feeling the bridge will be recreated more faithfully than we got in the Kelvinverse, with a touch of update for a 21st century production.

I just wonder when it’s going to show up.

I have a feeling it won’t be until after the middle of the season. Last shot will be Pike warping off.

I think Pike will be around the entire season. If S1 is an indicator, Discovery will probably adopt a fixed cast per season.

The theme is Star Trek enough. The visuals, on the other hand, are incredibly boring.

The theme to me is the worst part of it. It's completely unremarkable in every way. I'd gone quite a while since watching Discovery and my wife said "Hey, hum the Discovery theme!" I literally couldn't remember it. Then she said "Ok, Voyager!" and of course I recalled it immediately.

It was already weird enough having two episodes of DISCOVERY without the USS Discovery featured at all.
