Spoilers Titans - DC Universe Series

I'm wondering if one of the reasons Joshua Orpin was cast as Superboy, is from certain angles he looks like Henry Cavill.
I'm also getting an Adam West vibe from Ian Glen's Bruce Wayne.

I feel like this show has kind of squandered a strong start to season 2 in the last few episodes. Not that it's ever been great tv, but it felt like it was on a swing in the right direction. But now it just feels like they're throwing it all out to pad the season or for angst and melodrama. Ugh.

That said, I saw an official pic of the Nightwing suit (just the suit, not the actor in it) and it looked pretty good. Not sure the story will be worth watching, but at least the costumes look solid.

I was honestly surprised, after seeing a picture of the costume, that this show didn't go with the black/red Nightwing costume from the New 52, since this Nightwing is so drenched in blood it really would have fit the show better then the blue version.

Finally...Titans together. Too bad that
It took Donna Troy's death to do it. Though he she going to stay dead? Rachel thought she might be able to fix her so she went with Donna's body to Themyscira
And season three's big bad arrived
Starfire's sister Blackfire

Wow, these people can't write a finale if their life depended on it it seems.

There were some really nice bits in there, and it was especially great to finally see Nightwing, but overall this felt super rushed and had one of the dumbest deaths ever. I get that these things have to be somewhat contrived form time to time, but this was just borderline ridiculous.

Anyways, still a rather enjoyable season even if they fudged the ending a bit so I'm looking forward to season 3, but I do hope they try being a bit more focused this time, with fewer plotlines, or at least not endleslly delaying them all only to wrap them up in the first 20 minutes of the last episode.

Not reading the thread, because I won't catch this season till the Blu-ray release, but how much do Superboy and Krypto appear? It had been my understanding that Conner was going to be a new series regular this year, but from headlines I've seen and stuff, it looked like his first big episode (or even first appearance) might not have been till mid-season?

Even without having seen the episode, I don't agree with this notion that the big climax was contrived simply because of the realities of how deadly even a tiny amount of electrical current is.

Boy howdy. That's two terrible finales in a row. Granted, last time it was due to (I assume) holding over the finale 'til the next season, but have these people never heard about how important it is to stick the landing? It puts me in mind of Discovery a little bit, another show with two season finales of poor quality. It feels like they are caught up in telling season-long arcs, but don't have the skill to actually pay them off. There was plenty to like, and I'm really enjoying Titans generally, but that was one damn weak finale.

The argument of "things I didn't like" doesn't equate to the arguments of "this was badly written" or "this was of poor quality"... especially since the latter argument is highly subjective.

No shit it's subjective. When people say, "That was badly written!" you can just go ahead and assume that they mean, "In my opinion, that was badly written!"

Whether or not something is badly written is actually quantifiable; whether or not something is of poor quality isn't.

I try to resist blanket generalizations, but I'm tempted to think that one problem with serialized writing is that concluding nearly every installment with "to be continued" gives one little practice at coming up with good endings.

In my opinion, the finale was badly written. Simple.

It's not simple, actually.

Other than not liking the decisions that were made, what about the episode led you to the conclusion that it was badly written?

Because, like I said, "things I didn't like" doesn't equal "bad writing".

It's not simple, actually.
Yeah, but it is though.

If I say that I felt like it was badly written, that’s just the way it is. Doesn’t matter if you agree with me or not.
It's not really fun arguing semantics though, so I think I'm done now.

Titans season two finale...badly written. :)

Personally, I enjoyed the finale, so whether it was "badly written" is subjective, not objective or quantifiable.

Let's talk about Nightwing for a bit.

I am sure I missed a story arc or two in the comics over the years, but I was never comfortable with what they gave us with the Robin/Nightwing transition. Robin WAS Dick Grayson. Over the years they emphasized over and over his costume, identity, and motivation as coming from the Flying Graysons. It makes sense that he would mature, deal with it, and move on, in a way that Bruce was never able to. What I could never wrap my head around was how every new sidekick was running around in a Flying Grayson's outfit and Dick was in junior Batman colours.

I really enjoyed the way the season developed Dick and showed us how he transitioned from Robin to “not Robin” to Nightwing, as well as his interactions with Jason. It made sense, to me, finally, that this is how it happened. My problem with the whole idea of Nightwing was that if he didn’t want to be Batman junior, why would he ditch his family’s colours and become Batman 2.0?

Everything in this season that happened to Dick finally told me the story about one of my favourite characters (comics, novels, TV, movies) that I wanted to experience. The hallucinations with Bruce and the resolution scenes between them gave me closure about their relationship, and how he wasn’t walking away from the idea of a Batman, he was moving forward with it. Great season for me.

ETA, I didn't believe for a second Donna would stay dead. Let's see what happens.
