Spoilers Titans - DC Universe Series

I just read some more about the streaming service. It is cool that we are getting the Outsiders (only with Nightwing instead of Batman), but it seems that Kid Flash and Wonder Girl (their animated versions) will be on that show instead of Titans, and Cyborg will appear on Doom Patrol in a cameo. It is a shame that those characters couldn't appear on the Titans series.

Donna Troy (Wonder Girl) will indeed be appearing in Titans, played by Conor Leslie. And I believe Cyborg (Joivan Wade) is a regular in Doom Patrol, or at least that's my impression. As for Kid Flash, he's currently a recurring player in the Arrowverse, so they may not want to have duplicate live-action Wally Wests at the same time.

As for Young Justice: Outsiders, it's been confirmed that Bruce Greenwood will be reprising his role as Batman from the first two seasons of Young Justice, although he'll presumably remain in a supporting role. Robin/Nightwing and Kid Flash have been regulars in YJ from the beginning, and the Cassie Sandsmark Wonder Girl was introduced in season 2. Apparently Donna Troy exists as well in the YJ universe, under the name Troia, but she hasn't been seen onscreen yet, only mentioned by Greg Weisman in answers to viewer questions.

I agree.

As an aside, I find a good barometer for whether someone is being racist/sexist about the situation to be whether they also complain about Beast Boy, who also has a rather half-hearted and cheap look (bright green hair, rather than bright green skin and greenish-black hair, also a dumb "street-style" rather than a proper uniform). If they do, then they are critiquing creative decisions, which is acceptable. If they don't, or claim that it is 'prefectly fine' when challenged, then they could be a racist and/or sexist troll.
I was definitely concerned about his lack of green skin tone... His hair seems "normal" for Beat Boy... and there is a hint of his traditional red-and-white uniform...so that MIGHT be why we haven't heard as much... I wonder if others were expecting the make up to be added later

One, Beast Boy is played by a Japanese-American actor (Big Hero 6's Ryan Potter), so I'd expect racists to have a problem with him too. (In racist American circles, it's still common to hate Japanese people for Pearl Harbor and WWII, even though that was over 80 years ago.) Two, judging from the poster, it looks like he does have green skin, at least some of the time. It's possible that they filmed him with normal skin tone and used digital effects to turn him green in the final show, which I think is what Star Trek Discovery did with the Orions who appeared in its first-season finale, or so I saw someone claim once.
As someone who is half-Asian, LIKE RYAN POTTER IS, it depends on how you look. He look "white enough" for there not to be a major racist attack.

And the hating Japanese -- they had a major impact on many cultures, such as my dad's... In Indonesia only was willing to tell me about the scar on his leg, attributing it to the Japanese forcing him to sell cookies. I am sure there is more to it than that.

Other things in cultures have lasting effects. If you have any African American friends, tell them how slavery ended twice as long -- 160 years ago -- and LISTEN to what they say.

Hopefully he will be more like the poster rather than the behind the scenes photo (I imagine the longer he can be Out of make up, the better).

As for Starfire, I agree her wig is unappealing, but the good thing about wigs is that they're quite easy to change. Maybe they'll refine her look as the season goes on. And I expect they'll gradually work toward getting her, Gar, and Raven into costumes by season's end.

Yeah...but that should NOT look like a wig... In the beauty supply stores in my community, that type of wig is in the mix... but for STARFIRE, who is an ALIEN, it shouldn't look like a wig... and having an African -American actress wear it... along with a silly fur coat (seems very unlike Tamarans, as opposed to say Andorians) makes her look human.

I still don't see what the big deal is.

if that is the ACTUAL look...it is a bit better. But the orange looks like special effects rather than natural skin color...and the fur coat... see above.

Definitely the worst interpretation out of all of them.

As I recall, the shot in the trailer started out with her looking normal and then engaging her powers. Of course they wouldn't have her eyes and hair lit up 100% of the time, since that would be too expensive.

The eyes would be contact lenses (like in other shows), and she can have an excuse to wear sunglasses a lot, or have other shots away form her eyes.

The hair doesn't need to be lit up... just NOT look like it came from a beauty supply store in an African American neighborhood.

It should look like "alien" hair if possible... or at least much longer and fuller. A natural human brown would work just as well.

She looks like a hooker, which is probably the best suited profession for her. :)

In my informal poll of African AMerican friends, some variation of that answer was the most popular.

IMO the coat is the biggest thing to give off the hooker vibe. If they just lost the coat it would help a lot.

Yeah. I mean, it would still be garbage because she isn't actually orange, and I doubt her eyes will be green outside of action scenes, but at least at that point it would just be a bad costume/make up job and wouldn't remind me of a streetwalker.

Can we vote to kill Jason now or do we have to wait?

I suspect that, for now, their intent is to focus on the earlier end of Jason's story, the part where he catalyzed Dick to break with Batman and eventually become Nightwing. My guess is that Dick will become Nightwing by the end of the season, perhaps at the same time that the other Titans adopt proper costumes. Season-long origin stories, with the familiar status quo not arriving until the finale, are kind of a trend in superhero TV these days, e.g. in Daredevil and Runaways.

Probably smarter than Arrow's 5 year plan...don't see this going past one season, given the terrible costuming/makeup with Starfire and Beast Boy

If you'll excuse my amateur photomanipulation skills and for stealing and racebending Gal Gadot's Wonder-ful arms I gave it a shot.

i see where you are gong and appreciate the attempt... culd you even do the whole wonder woman body ARMOR too? And maybe adjust enough so it looks more like Starfire (or non-Wonder Woman)? That could help.

Oh, and pink skin Garfield Logan looks like Jimmy Fallon with hair paint on

Robin is the only one that looks like the character.
With the things we’ve seen so far, I imagine Jason is going to be the nicer of the two Robins.

Brief clip of Dick meeting Jason Todd, at about 2:19 in DC Universe's new DC Daily news show or whatever the heck it is:

Hold on...

The issue with the Not-Orange-Character was the not orangeness and a coat...? Not the hip high dress and crotch high boots with 6 inch wedge heels?

I know Bryce Dallas Howard proved the haters wrong and learnt how to sprint in her Choos across uneven grass, but (a) how is this costume useful for fisticuffs and the like, but more importantly (b) how is the respectful to any character, female, alien, black, orange or otherwise?

From my Google-Fu, the character has had typically grim over-sexualised costumes in the funny books for many a year, and only the 'toon seems to have toned it down to an acceptable level.

If this character wore what is printed in the comics, I'd baulk. I find the costume that poor Anna Diop is having to sport there to be full-on baulk material.

Sans-Satsuma skin-tone is the least of the problems here.

(Note, none of the above was meant as a shot at you or your work @Mr. Adventure)

Hugo - waits for the incoming...

So how is the DC service thingy? Is it worth the money?
I thought they were at a Urinal in that scene. :)
