Titan: The TV Series

Well, they are all coming back for a Family Guy based TNG episode where they will revive their characters if that counts for anything.

Well, as of Over a Torrent Sea, Riker is 46 and Troi is 45. Remember, it's been over 6 years since NEM came out (although I'm surprised it's been that long), but in the books it's less than two years since NEM happened. And both characters are a few years younger than the actors portraying them (6 years for Riker/Frakes, 4 years for Troi/Sirtis).

Of course, Troi's little treatment at Spa Caeliar might make her appear appear a good decade (two?) younger.

I think they would ask for much higher pay from the Trek franchise. They know how much revenue TNG has generated over the years.

I'm actually surprised that Paramount gave permission to FOX to make a TNG based episode and use the entire cast. For that matter, I'm surprised Lucas allowed it for Star Wars(but that was hilarious).

If you look at it as letting Fox promote a Paramount property, at Fox's expense, when Paramount has no competing vehicle, it's a little less surprising.

I doubt that Fox asked Paramount. Parodies don't need permission to do such things. And Family Guy is most certainly doing a parody of Star Trek rather than try to claim to be Star Trek. As for the actors Paramount can't tell them who to accept jobs from as they don't own the actors, just the characters they play.

Good information on the Fair Use Act and Copyright law.

*Now, that said, it might have been nice of Fox to ask Paramount if they can do such a thing... but I doubt they did since that would insinuate that Fox is trying to use their copyright and would give Paramount a more solid ground to stand on if they wanted to pursue it.

I'd watch a Titan tv series. But I doubt they'd make it, and I'm kind of glad. I'm afraid they'd muck it up. And I like the books (for all the current treks) more than the shows that spawned them.

I'm going to agree with this completely with the exception of TNG; their part in Destiny was great, but aside from that, the post-Nemesis TNG books haven't really approached the heights of the TV show for me. And that's assuming Full Circle is as good as I hope, because without that, VOY has also been a bit of a disappointment.

But yes, I tend to prefer novels to onscreen material; more freedom, better stories.

Be that as it may, studios sometimes are VERY protective of certain properties of which they own and they say hands off.

This isn't going to be a "TNG based episode" in the same sense as the SW episode. The actors are all playing themselves, rather than their Trek characters. And Paramount has no control over the cast; they haven't been under contract for years now.

Hey, just FYI due to legal reasons we aren't allowed to post story ideas on here.
