^^ And if you reread my post you'll see I was not lumping everyone into two camps. Of course there are always exceptions but that doesn't invalidate what I've observed first hand over the years.

You're right, it doesn't invalidate it at all.

Your first hand observations seemed to indicate a correlation between age, appreciation for classic TV and film, and potential enjoyment of the new Trek film... I just thought I'd offer my P.O.V. as a counter-point.

LOL Mr. Hard! Maybe the Bollywood influence would of been a positive thing... ya know a little dancing and romancing....the movies haven't been all that great with a few exceptions...of course that is just my opinion.

Hey Hard! Well I have to say you and I are consistent...consistently at odds that is LOL. I like TOS and when I say H-wood I'm specifically referring to movies. Seriously compare some classics with the crap being churned out today and you'll see what I mean. But you probably wouldn't be interested because...dare I say it......a lot of these films are in DREADED BLACK AND WHITE!

Not everything that comes out of H-wood is horrible but yeah I think most of it is now a days.

Granted, a lot of crap is being produced these days. But still, just because H-Wood made it, it's not automatically bad.
I dare say that we more or less agree on this one.

I like TOS

So do I. I grew up watching it, I own the dvds, I have watched the episodes many times and I assume I'll watch them even more in the future.

I don't feel threatened by the new movie and I can perfectly accept both the old and new without some great need to make them absolutely fit in the same canon etc etc etc

And just because i love TOS, that does not mean I see it through rose colored glasses and that i can not identify the various flaws it has in addition to the many positive qualities.

I have nothing against B&W, thank you very much. And I have seen and even own some of the "dreaded" old stuff.
