Tina Fey Might possibly be the Greatest Lois Lane of them all.

Seriously, I'll pay full price to see a Superman movie with Fey as Lois Lane without knowing a single other thing about it.

Yep, me too. There are very few people that I trust to always entertain me. Tina Fey is one of them.

I dunno, she's a little old for the part. Even with a Superman in his 35-40's. Supes would probably look best with a 30-35 year old Lois. But she does look the part. I just cant see her in a serious role. ie not a SNL type comedy.

Since Supes is an ageless alien, why in the world would Lois need look younger than him? As long as they're both somewhere in a ten year age range it ought to work just fine. Margot Kidder was 4 years older than Chris Reeve and it was largely their amazing chemistry that made Superman: The Movie and Superman II work, though Reeve gets all the credit for it since Kidder doesn't fit most young guys idea of hot enough - an issue that is really secondary to a good Lois.

As for Tina Fey as Lois and the "seriousness" of the role - let's see, Lois is in stories about an alien from another galaxy who somehow manages to look exactly like a human being and can defy all the laws of physics. Not really too serious. And Lois is best with a very sharp wit. I say to the idea - BRILLIANT!

I agree. I think she would make an awesome Lois. Maybe someone should start a campaign to get her aboard :D You forgot one thing. She manages to fly with the help of the alien ;)

They should do the next Superman as an animated film. After seeing The Incredibles and MegaMind it really seems silly that they ever do superheroes in live action.

Of course, in a most literal sense most superhero movies are now animated movies in large part - it's just that the attempt to achieve something like photorealism with the CG effects takes a lot of the fun out of it.

You are aware that two Supeman animated movies came out in the last month and change?

Superman/Batman Apocalypse which is lifted script from early issues of Superman/Batman where the new Supergirl shows up, and a 20 minute short called the return of Black Adam which has Superman getting in the middle of Captain Marvel's origin.

DC animation is just pumping these buggers out since they decided that thye don't have to write new scripts they just adapt straight form the comics which are now because they're "written for the trade" effectively movie script sized and weighted.

To me, the issue is why WB doesn't invest in a good CGI animation studio and make a big budget CGI Superman movie instead of just cranking out direct to video stuff.

I'm not talking about TV animation. The work being done by Pixar and Dreamworks - even at the latter's worst - is actually visually delightful, kinetic and engaging in all kinds of ways and doesn't shy away from the more cartoonish qualities of the form. TV animation at its best is...stylishly drawn, and little else. The term "animation" is a bit of an exaggeration, there.

The Fantastic Four should certainly be a cartoon, and probably nothing else. It wouldn't have hurt to put and keep the Hulk in that realm, either.

No one is really talking about the movie itself here. So is it worth a see? Keep in mind I am a hardcore Superman fan. So I would see it for the Superman allusions alone. But is it good on its own terms?

I think I read somewhere that Margot Kidder went crazy because of Superman.
Didn't she strip off all her clothes and disappear into the woods for a few days?
Hopefully that wouldn't happen to Fey.

Megamind is fucking fantastic.

It makes the Incredibles look like Superman Returns.

It makes Superman Returns look like a High School musical production of Superman III (This has happened.).

I wouldn't go so far to say it's better than Incredibles, but it IS a great animated feature.

And no, it wasn't the "Doctor Horrible" rip-off folks thought it would be.

talking of Tina Fey as a Lois Lane figure, ive seen the trailer for Megamind, and its clear she her character is a homage to Lois Lane

That said the battle between likeable villan and a hero with an ego, is alot more like Doctor Horribles Sing Along Blog, than it should be.

Doctor Horrible was hardly the first ever attempt at doing a "Nice Villain" thing, and Metro Man in Megamind actually IS a hero unlike Captain Hammer. In fact, this movie analyzed both sides pretty well on how some folks are forced into "Hero" roles whether they want to be or not just as much as some folks are forced into being "villains".

No, but he did take her to his crystal cave. Maybe that had something to do with it.

I thought it was wonderful, but I'm notoriously easy on movies. I've seen a number of reviews saying that it's good but not nearly as clever as, say "The Incredibles," which is probably true - that's one of my favorite movies of recent years. But I enjoyed Megamind a lot partly because I just liked and sympathized with almost every character in it. "Tighten" is the one character I disliked - he's also very reminiscent of the central character in Ellison's "Delusion for a Dragon Slayer."

I don't think we're supposed to like Tighten. Megamind was hoping that as an everyman geek Hal would become a Spider-Man, he ended up being closer to Venom than anything else. Nice subversion from the usual roles Jonah Hill plays, this time he really WAS a total jackass bad dude.

Titan as in the moon or the god or the group of parent gods not tighten as in tighten my belt because I lost a couple pounds doing ab crunches.

Hal got dosed by random remember.

Megamind justified serendipity, but he never would have chosen that guy.

Actually, the character's name is spelled "Tighten" - which struck me as a charmingly off-kilter joke.

Supposedly his real name - Hal Stewart - is an homage to a couple of guys not named Gardener. ;)

My bad.

The version I watched had Russian credits.

though he did write his name on a building at one point.
