Times Arrow

I have searched and cannot find an existing thread for this two-parter. I was reminded of it whilst playing the "Star Trek Online Devidian episodes" today. It got me reminiscing about what a good yarn it was.

I'd have loved for the Devidians to be used more, they seemed like a really well thought out, really "alien" race. They lived out of phase and saw us not as sentient but merely food to sustain themselves. Something of the X-files in their way of being.

Data's head found in an archeological dig, Guinan spotted in ninetenth century America, a cameo from Samuel Clemens and Jack London and you have a classic on your hands...

...Or has playing that game clouded my memory? Afterall there must be a reason I haven't seen it in twenty years.

Agreed, it's interesting to watch but as far as cliffhangers go... come on, there was no suspense. You knew Data was going to make it somehow.

Data the "Frenchman" in San Fransisco is really what carries this one. Clemens and London were nice too. Now only if they had worked in Emperor Norton.

They showed a scene from Time's Arrow in the first part of the current ongoing Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover comic; I think they are going to continue it in the next part..

I liked Time's Arrow simply because it had a sort of good story line to it, but mainly because Data looked delicious in a waistcoat and pocket watch. *drool*

I think the cliffhanger with Data's head was not meant to make us believe he would be killed, but rather - how on Earth (pun intended) did it happen? =)

Times Arrow has always been one of my favourite two parters, I thought it was a good mix of action, drama and comedy.
I've always loved the scene in the guest house where "Mr Pikkerd" and the rest of the crew has to distract the landlady by performing Shakespeare really badly.

A good fun episode with a decent plot that combines a good Data-centric story, and at least attempts to explain some of the (to that point) mysterious history between Picard and Guinan.

Like most Trek 2-parters, the first half was better than the 2nd half.

I did love the landlady. "Mr. Pick-erd!! Mr. Pick-erd!!"

Also loved Data - when he discovered how to make some money. "POKER?!"

I wonder if the Devidians (soul stealers) were a veiled reference to the Branch Davidians?

Yeah Data cheating by rigging the deck and hustling Gul Dukat was funny. :p
