This whole revelation of mine depends on whether you consider the Countdown comics canon to this movie.
First of all, I'm waiting for the paperback to be released so I can read the whole story, but in the mean time I'm reading the plot description on Wikipedia so that if I post anything relating to Countdown I won't sound like an idiot.
Now for the revelation. In the comics, there's a subplot about a star called Hobus going supernova and Old Spock comes up with the plan of using something called Decalithium to create red matter to create a black hole to comsume this star. My theory is that this star is going to be a major catylist in the time travel portion of STXI. However, it won't be time travel in the sense, but a crossing between two universes when Hobus goes supernova and some other star in the STXI universe comes to life. It's the very same scenario as in the Animated Series episode "The Counter-Clock Incident." Nero on the Narada and Old Spock on the Jellyfish are going to be sucked into the great explosion that's coming up in the final issue of Countdown and end up in the STXI universe believing they traveled into the past.
So how many of you think this theory is sound or that I've finally lost what little of my mind I have left?
