Say what you want about GENERATIONS, but I think this was the best TNG Movie. And mainly because of some of the great lines you can quote from it...the whole scene between picard/soran at ten forward, and then later when picard tries to talk him out of it are both well written..some real meaty stuff there...

FC, to me, becomes sillier each time I see it, mainly because I know how baffoonish the Borg would become overtime THANKS to the invention of the Queen who totally undermines the best part of the Borg; the collective. By creating her they just made the Borg another TREK species you could deal with because now they were centralized...bad move..

Generations...best Trek movie..IMO...

Dr. Soran:" You know there was a time that I wouldn't hurt a fly. Then the Borg came and they showed me that if there is one constant in this universe, it's death.

Afterwards, I began to realize that it didn't matter. We're all going to die sometime. It's only a question of how and when. You will too, Captain. Don't you feel time gaining on you?

It's like a predator; it's stalking you. Oh,you can try and outrun it with doctors, medicines, new technologies but in the end, time is going to hunt you down... and make the kill."

I just love that entire point that Soran makes. What does FC have? "The line must be drawn.....HERE". Okay...

The more I watch GEN the more I like it. I have a few gripes about it but overall it's a solid film.

The Data humor scenes piss me off. The other complaint I had is why didn't Kirk and Picard exit the nexus at some other point in time. Kirk could have gone back to the Ent-B and just arrested Soran then and there. Same for Picard on the D.

I do have a gripe with what Soren said when he mentions "Then the Borg came and they showed me that if there is one constant in this universe, it's death." Maybe it's just me, but I thought what made the Borg unique and almost more threatening is that their modus operendi is that they DON'T kill you..they might occasionally but that's not what they TEACH (a la Sore's metaphor) they actually keep you alive but they take away almost everything that makes you unique except for the fact that you know you have become one of them.

What do you think?

I have to think that the BORG do kill, if someone puts up a fight.

What Soran took away from the experience is different from what the Borg may have intended. Indeed, the Borg have no intentions at all when it comes to how individuals perceive them, since they don't care about individuals.

Besides, try telling Ben and Jake Sisko that the Borg don't cause death.

I just love that entire point that Soran makes.

Apparently so did Malcolm McDowell...he liked that line ("time is the fire in which we burn") so much that he had it engraved on the watch he wears in the film.

Besides that line and the Data/Guinan exchange, the dialogue in GEN is not all that memorable or quotable. A good speech does not elevate this movie to greatness.

I know a lot of people love Kahn and Chang and stuff like that, but Soren was one of the most underrated villains in all of the movies and lines like the ones quoted were the reasons why. There were some awesome lines in Generations and the whole theme of time and what it is made the whole movie for me, no matter what kind of flaws there were. McDowell was great in the role.

No, he never mentioned Soran's name to Kirk.

What ya mean. I just watched the movie. He clearly said "We have to stop a man called Soran. Millions of lives are at stake?"

Then, later, at the place where the fight happened Kirk says somehting like "you go after the launcher, I'll take care of Soran."

Personally, flaws and all I loved the film

...the whole theme of time and what it is made the whole movie for me, no matter what kind of flaws there were.

That's what I found great about GEN is that it shows how the three main characters look at time and the flow of their lives...

Soran is trying to fight it.
Picard is trying to accept it.
Kirk is trying to ignore it.
