Time Burton to Direct Live Action Dumbo

Yep. The strangest part of the article for me, if it's correct, was this:

Johnny Depp is in talks to play Dumbo's Mom.

Are. They. Serious?? Wow. Seems like Depp is willing to do anything these days. It's not like he should be strapped with cash, and willing to take anything, but based on the some decisions he's made would make me think otherwise. I kind of miss when he was more of a serious actor like from his days in 21 Jumpstreet.

This is the world that Pirates of the Caribbean opened up for him: he can be the go-to quirky-guy for terrible mainstream movies for half the effort and many times the cash. I could see why it would be tempting; few people have infinite reserves of Artistic Commitment.

They're talking about it being live action/CGI, but are there even any other talking roles for humans other than the guy who runs the circus in the original?

I've either disliked or hated pretty much every Tim Burton movie I've ever seen.

This one appears likely to bottom out his output imho.

On the bright side, HBC's likely to be spared this...
