Tim Russ in new ABC sitcom

Just an FYI (and I've giving up submitting this crap to the TrekToday news people who apparently can't be bothered), but Tim Russ has a supporting role in next season's Christina Applegate single-camera sitcom, "Sam I Am." It's got a nice premise (girl has amnesia and gradually learns about and deals with her unruly past) and a very good cast.

Additionally, Robert Duncan McNeill directed the pilot and likely was instrumental in casting Russ. Unless things change from the upfronts, the show will air Mondays on ABC.

I remember reading about this. I'll probably check it out. Coincidentally Tim Russ has a recurring role on General Hospital as well.

If it's not one of MEG's favorites (Mulgrew, Takei, etc.), Trek Today won't bother. You'd never know Jeri Ryan is going into the second season of a series if you read Trek Today for news. You'd also never know she's a working partner in an award-winning restaurant.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd missed news on that show. :)

I read on IMDB that Tim Russ also has a part in the upcoming Live Free or Die Hard. Not sure how big a part, but as a fan of Russ' acting ability I hope it's significant.

Yes, the basic premise of Overboard, with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Obnoxious woman gets amnesia, becomes nice, then finds out she was a royal b****, er, "pain." :)

It'll be good to see Tim Russ back on TV, though.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Russ at a couple of different convetions and I have to say, What a very personable guy. I'll have to check it out.

As far as Trek today...
I don't know how many times I posted news of an actor passing and they always put it up a week and a half later thanking so and so for the news.
Not that I'm looking for credit but it would be nice for a passing to be posted fairly soon. It's not like anything Trek is beating down the news doors.
I don't even bother anymore.

It got posted, I'm shocked. ;) Yeah, I'd never seen that movie, but the premise at least reminded me of "Regarding Henry." Obviously it's been done before, but I would hope because it can be milked so effectively? We'll see!

I like that cast though - Applegate is likeable, Russ is so much funnier than any of his Trek characters would have you believe, and Jean Smart is killer. Kudos to Robert Duncan McNeill too - he's carved himself a really successful directing career - getting pilot gigs is huge.

Chat about actors tends to go in the relevant forum, so I'm going to send this over to Voyager 'cause I don't see a duplicate.

I'm glad to hear the news about Tim Russ' new sitcom. I'll be looking forward to watching and Robert Duncan McNeill as director is an added bonus.

As far as the timeliness of the news being reported by TrekToday it doesn't seem that Mr. Russ' official website has even reported it yet. Nor have I seen the news on many of the other Trek-related sites. It's only logical that the actors with the most prevalent internet presence, and official sites that announce and can confirm news, are going to have that news reported. The entertainment media, such as Trek Today, reports on the news that is most readily available to them. They aren't Woodward & Bernstein digging for a story but at least TrekToday prints articles on other subjects in addition to just what the latest rumor is about the next Star Trek movie.

Tim Russ is on a sitcom? That’s a laugh in itself.

Not that I have anything against the guy, he’s actually my favorite Vulcan (blasphemer, I know). It’s just that… Well, he’s my favorite Vulcan.

Hopefully it will be better than "Overboard." That was a bad, bad movie.
