19-year-old Alice returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

I'm looking forward to checking this movie out. All the trailers are pretty cool, Depp's take on the Mad Hatter looks fun. Anyone here see it already?

so you thought Alice in Wonderland was a ok but not great movie anyway I might go and see it the clips of the movie look awesome in my opinion

I liked it well enough, I guess. The movie is far more a visual triumph than a storytelling one. Sadly, I think Depp is the weakest link here. His character is really not given much interesting to do, and randomly breaks into a gruff Scottish accent (which I had a really hard time understanding) that really annoyed me.

I seen clips of Alice in Wonderland can't wait until I go and see it because I love Johnny Depp he's a great actor in my opinion.

Man, I'm disappointed, although I should have expected as much. I had the exact same reaction from this movie that I've had for the last few Burton movies I've seen: Pretty to look at, but there is just not enough story.

I think this movie's greatest weakness is that it presumes you already give a shit about these characters. It doesn't do enough character-building, and it doesn't make the situation seem dire enough. All of a sudden there's this prophecy that Alice has to uphold because apparently the Red Queen's monster destroyed a couple random houses in the middle of the forest, and that makes her evil. Blah. I honestly wasn't sold on the Red Queen as a villain.

Also, I am getting really tired of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Anytime they play a character with a weird accent, I can almost never understand a word they say. Luckily, the Red Queen said "Off with his head" every other line, so that wasn't too hard to follow.

I wish there had been more focus on when Alice had been there the first time. Nobody even tries to refresh her memory or convince her that she's not dreaming. It's like nobody actually cared whether she was really Alice or not.

Overall, I found myself thinking I'd rather be watching "Hook."

I liked it more than I expected to. It wasn't wonderful, but it was entertaining. I didn't like how it morphed into some kind of weird Dungeons and Dragons riff at the end, though. The Cheshire Cat effects were the highlight of the movie, for me. Adequately original and mysterious, as well as being pretty cool. I wish he'd been in more of the movie.

I give the movie an above average.

The cast did well. Mia Wasikowska was cute, Johnny Depp did his own thing, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen seemed to have a blast chewing up the scenery. Wonderland was nicely done, very colorful. The playing card soldiers were awesome. I wish that we could have gotten more background on the two queens though. Also I loved seeing Alice be the hero in the final battle.

The scene with Alice first drinking the shrinking potion probably went on a little too long. I knew before going in that it was a sequel to the original story, but I imagine that some people were confused until the final flashback. They shouldn't have made such big deal about the wrong Alice thing. Getting rid of those lines would have improved the movie.

The scene that got the biggest laugh from the audience I was with was Mad Hatter's dance.

Since the movie is doing so well at the boxoffice, will Disney be making the prequel about Alice's first trip to Wonderland when she was six years old? :)

Gave it an excellent, enjoyed it far more than I thought I would, given I'm not a Tim Burton fan and his movies are decidedly a mixed bag with me. And Depp surprised me with how engaging I thought his Hatter was.

Lots of little bit of subtext peppered throughout, too.

And again, cool ass Tron Legacy trailer, cherry on top of a delicious chocolate fudge cake.

I don't know why exactly but I found it very meh. This was the first I'd gone to see since XMas too. Just everything about it was just there, and the whole thing looked like very cheap cartoony CGI. Depp wasn't particularly amazing as the Hatter either.

Did not help any that I had to sit much closer to the screen than I normally like. I was told I got the last ticket for the showing. It was straining my eyes, so I sat back as far as I could. Dull uninvolving story and characters did not help either.

Wow, I was actually pretty entertained by it. Wonderful visuals, as expected from Burton. I agree that the story and characters needed a little extra meat, but it was an enjoyable movie. Not Burton's best but not his worst, either.

Visuals were great with some truly beautiful scenes....loved Anne Hatheway and her portrayal of the White Queen....for the most part enjoyable and not a freaking musical.

That was the good. While it wasn't a bad movie, it wasn't great either. Certainly the best looking Wonderland film to date. But it suffers from the same thing all "return to Wonderland" stories not written by Carol have.....the world is too linear and orderly. Wonderland never had any kind of temporal continuity to it...or very little. Things happen because they happen and there's a general sort of dreamlike or madness quality to it.
Only the present seems real and even it is subject to whimsical change, not always for the better. It is a realm of chaos.

In addition, the general story filled out the standard FX ridden, big budget, popcorn template, with an Alice skin slapped on it. There was nothing, outside of the nice visuals, and some good performances to really elevate it into anything even close to special.

I'm an Alice fan and I really went into this hoping that it would be the awesome Alice movie I've been waiting for for ages. It wasn't but it was okay. But until something better comes along, this one'll stand at the top of Alice flicks...
