"It didn't feel right".
"It's incredibly odd and unimaginative".
"Is this all the writers could come up with?".
Jesus Christ. It's one fucking line. It had one function: To show the passing of the torch from Spock's era to the new era. It functioned fine.
agree. I saw it for the third time last night and once again I was like, meh.. couldn't they come up with something better for Spock's LAST LINE in the film? Maybe Nimoy's last line ever playing Spock?
It has bugged me each time.
Yeah, if this is Nimoy's last line as Spock, it'll bug me, too. Especially since, "Go to Hell." was so much better.
Technically, it was "If I was human."
Whoo, pedantry on a Star Trek board! Makes me feel like a winner. I think I'm going to go read a book or something.
Hah! I knew that, too. I just didn't want to crush someone else's spirit by pointing it out. Enjoy your win, you pendant.![]()
That's how I took it too and I started to have a bit of water in my eyes. Then they just killed me with Nimoy saying the speech and TOS music.it was a great line, I thought. especially the way he said it -- almost wistfully, as if he was missing/remembering the old days and his old friend.
Nah, you think?Um, in this movie, I think that line would've worked better if said by the younger Spock.I got it: Spock should have said "I'll fuck anything that moves!"
"Front deflectors, FULL INTENSITY!"
It is likely the final line we will ever have from one of the original crew - of any series, let alone TOS. I don't think it's unreasonable for people to want it to be something special.
I'm yet to see any better ideas though.
That line would have also been weird.Terrible terrible line. What was Abraham thinking when he wrote that?
A better line would have been something to the effect of "good luck my firneds. Space is your frontier now. Smooth sailing. Aye aye."
"The Cubs Win the Pennant" is an obvious non-starter.
No, just leave their little hearts crushed; we were south siders. U of C campus neighborhood, before we moved out here to our little house on the prairie."The Cubs Win the Pennant" is an obvious non-starter.
Maybe someday there will be a movie where a crazed Cubs fan goes back in time to pull Bartman's glove out of Alou's way.![]()
