Throwing Away The Empty Boxsets

I have all the Voyager discs in a DVD wallet to save space and for easy access but I have hundreds of DVD cases including all the empty Voyager boxsets in storage and it's time to throw them out. I'll never use them again as I have all my DVDs in wallets so there is no point keeping them but it will be hard to throw away the Voyager boxsets especially the seasons 1 and 2 which are the plastic outer cases rather than the cardboard versions from 3-7.

Should I just get on with it and take them to the tip? I don't want to break any Federation laws.

My Ferengi associates suggest keeping them. Throwing them out signigicantly reduces the disks' resale value.

Vinyl has resale value. Maybe someday DVD's will as well, especially if the Internet has a major crash.

Some DVDs already have resale value. Just depends on the release and the availability of other formats.

I think it'll be cyberterrorism. 9-11-01 but with computers. And given how reliant we are on the Web, it'll be bad.

All the DVD discs are in a wallet so I'll never be using the empty Voyager boxes again but I can't bring myself to throw them away. Especially the seasons 1 and 2 which are the collectors edition cases. They are empty of disks and some of the cardboard cases are worn but the plastic cases and inserts are fine. Does anyone want them? I know offering empty boxsets is probably pointless but I would rather ask first before throwing them in to a giant skip to be crushed. Maybe the inserts alone are worth something to someone.

Don't do it! Keep them 'til you die and let your surviving loved ones sort out the clutter.

I'm not throwing mine away. :shifty:

I've been keeping the ones I really like just because who knows next time some other service is going to take the rights and make me pay more for it, or if somebody is going to decide one scene of an episode is offensive and remove the whole thing.

Before you throw them away, at least take some photos as a memento, and to answer any future questions that might cross your mind as to precisely which edition you bought and so on. If you have a scanner, it's better than a camera for this task.

Then once they're gone, you can still reference their artwork and text again, and spare yourself the frustration of not being able to whenever you feel like it.

I keep my DVD's in an album also (one made for CD's). But I have the boxes in the attic in case I want to sell them or donate them to the library, etc.

You might put them up for sale on ebay, being sure it's clear that it's "case only." You never know who might need one, since sometimes people end up getting a hold of the discs with no case for some reason.

Had the clear out and dumped all the DVDs but have kept the Voyager boxsets. The artwork is all online and the value of empty cases to anyone else is zero so there is no real reason to keep them apart from the fact they are from my favourite non-hospital based TV show. They're not even the originals because I used to have the VHS boxset but sold it at a second hand shop when VHS tapes still had some value 15 years ago. I went through my own missions to obtain the seven DVD boxsets though. Were seasons 3-7 ever released in a plastic case like seasons 1 and 2 were?

Yes. I have the complete set. 7 identical plastic boxes. The original and the first 2 spinoffs have unique boxes for each season.
