"THREE-Mo-Tep?!" A third Fraser/Weisz "Mummy" in the works...

I have to admit to not being a fan of franchises completely disregarding entire installments, although I don't hold that against the new production itself. I think a better approach would just be to move on without necessarily having to acknowledge the previous adventure, but not directly contradict it. Or maybe do like the Wolverine movies did in which the second movie only had a brief offhand reference to the first movie that either you caught or you didn't and it didn't disrupt the story.

I do find it funny that Star Trek fans complain about modern productions that aren't directly in line with the nearly 1,000 installments in the franchise, but other franchises can't even keep their stories straight through four or five installments.

I agree, for all its imperfections I don't want Tomb of the Dragon Emperor to be erased, it doesn't need to be made a big deal out of it. Maybe an off hand joke about the recast, like Evelyn did something with her hair and it made her look like a completely different person. Also I like the idea they continued to have adventures like with the original plan for a fourth film in Peru, this is a world of gods and magic but absolutely nothing happens? It can be quite bland when nothing happens in a universe without particular people's involvement.

At least the Terminator franchise when it erased Rise of the Machines and Salvation for Sarah Connor Chronicles used it as a plot device and acknowledged things like Sarah's death to cancer. Of course I will happily wallow in hypocrisy and declare Genisys and Dark Fate non-existent and cling to the hope SCC is just on hiatus and will get a season 3 any day now.

Other than the existence of the bone claws, of course. But some people will claim that isn't a reference to the first movie...
