Anyone out there have a Windows tablet - be it Surface or one of the other vendors? Any thoughts on it, and Windows 8.1 as a operating platform?
My Android tablet is getting close to its last legs, after three years - not bad compared to other tablets, and I've applied a custom ROM to have it keep up with the times. I use it principally for media consumption but it's not as useful as it used to be, stuttering and choking on HD video. My smaller and newer Android tablet is picking up the slack but even it can only do so much... My needs and preferences don't fit an iPad, and while I can happily trot out to buy a new Android tablet again, I'm wary that the built-in obsolesence will be especially sharp down the road, as it is with the current one.
So, I'm looking at Windows as an option, and to anyone who has such a device for their thoughts on it. As I understand it, Windows 8 was a mess, but 8.1 has largely cleared it up - My wife uses a Windows laptop and when I'm actually allowed to touch it, it seems just fine. Windows 10 sounds genuinely exciting, and I'm looking forward to the upgrade pretty much all my existing Windows machine will automatically get (I use a W7 Desktop at home, and a laptop at work). Comments?
