Thoughts on the end of Workforce

I had always wondered if at the end of Workforce, after everyone gets their memories back, if there were some people who would have wanted to stay there.

In The 37s we see that nobody wanted to stay behind. I think that might have had a lot to do with being early in their journey and still optimistic about finding a fast way home. But in the 7th season, after the reality of their long journey had set in, after all the hardships they faced, I wonder if some people would have wanted to stay on that planet. We saw that Janeway made a "friend", I would imagine other people started lives there too.

I don't know...it might depend on how different they were without their memories. If it were me, I'd feel super uncomfortable when my memories came back at the life choices I had uncharacteristically made. While Janeway for example may have parted with Jaffen amicably, I wonder if it wasn't easy for her to do on some level. If Tuvok had made friends, he'd certainly have been a bit disturbed with the new level of comfort expected from him. Like when he got his memories back in the episode where he and Neelix got close.

I think the fact that they were on certain levels different people would play a factor for each character.

I don't know. For one thing that planet seemed to be an ecologic disaster and what with the curfews and all. Seems all they do on that planet is work and stay in their crummy apartments. In the 37's however it would have made sense for some of them to want to stay.

Of course that planet doesn't seem nearly as bad as those talaxians who seem happy living inside and asteroid!

I just think about someone like some lonely unnamed ensign, who has no kids or spouse in the AQ. Who made some friends on that planet, maybe had a love interest. I could see someone who would rather stay there than continue on a dangerous mission with no end in sight.

I don't know, that bar that Tom worked at was always full of people looking like they were having a good time

If all I have left to look forward to, is spending a couple of hours at a table of such an establishment every now and then, shoot me!
I imagine they had other things going in, it's just what we saw. :p

But yeah that's basically my life now. Wake up, go to work, come home, quick dinner, work out for a bit, read for 20 minutes, go to sleep. Repeat.

Can't seem to edit my post...I wanted to add that even if it was dull, it was SAFE. After all they went through those seven years I could understand some people wanting that.

I'm not sure I'd want to spend the rest of my life on a planet which had basically declared war against my ship and kidnapped me and my crewmates.

I don't know anyone who would join Starfleet who'd be satisfied with a life like that, even after a while in the Delta quadrant. It seems it just wouldn't be in their nature- it is a rather bland place. Except somebody like Talk Celes maybe, who felt she made a wrong choice joining.

Not everybody there was a willing Starfleet officer. Remember many of them were former Maquis who might not have ever been through Starfleet or the academy.

Well, I couldn't but as they say, to each his own. "Safe" is nice for a while especially after you've been through some trouble, but after a time it gets really boring.
