Yesterday Star Trek and CBS announced three people who are going to be cast members for Discovery. I have mixed feelings about this. I don't know who is in charge of the marketing for this show but they could do better. By telling us little tiny bits of information it makes it look like the show as a whole is not organized.
If you don't know who they announced for the different parts you can check out a short video I made about it.

I would love to know what your thoughts are about the casing. I'm really hopeful about Rapp being a supporting character. He seems to be a good actor and his character dose have some potential. I would just love for them to tell us who is going to be the main character and the supporting roles. I would love to finally see a photo yet of the cast in their uniforms standing on the bridge of Discovery.

It's gonna crash and burn. STD will be so bad, Voyager and Enterprise and TNG Season 1 will look fabulous by comparison. William Shatner will publicly disown it. Walter Keonig and George Takei will pretend they've never heard of it.
And we know all this from a couple of internet blogs and the TrekBBS forums.

I do have hope for this. I do think it's a mistake to not partner with Netflix for inside the U.S. That just seems like greed on the part of CBS. As far as creativity goes I'm confident it will all work out. I just want some more information, It's coming out in six months and we don't know all that much. What little information we get Trek fans speculate and don't really like. So if they come out and say "look here is what we are doing, we are already filming things are going great" I think that would really reassure people that it's going to be good.

I am doing my best to maintain optimism, realistic or otherwise, about Discovery (STD sound icky). It does seem striking how little we do know at this point. There have actually been more confirmed casting announcements for the 2018 reboot of Lost in Space.
Keeping my fingers crossed, and not signing up to get behind CBS's paywall until we see the premiere.

Day one, post one.
