Thought Showgirls was bad? How about a sequel?

This is definitely not safe for work, but go to showgirls 2 dot com, and feast your eyes on the cinematic brilliance!

I have one question...how could these people even afford the rights in the first place? :guffaw:

Can't say I'm surprised. Even the worst films get sequels these days. Why not Showgirls 2?

Heck. We're gettin' Wall Street 2! Since when have we been waiting for Showgirls: The Return? Is Elizabeth Berkley in it?

I was gonna see the first one when it came out being that it was the only NC 17 movie to hit mainstream, and it was the hip thing to do. Everyone at school was gonna see it (I was a sophomore at the time), that's how I heard about it. Too bad the weekend that it came out, it wasn't playing anywhere in my state!

I remember thinking: Well, all that publicity, hype and worry for nothing! Then it came on HBO. I think I got through the first 20 minutes or so before I got bored. I am so glad I didn't (technically) pay to see that.

/\It's funny, I had the Resident Evil Blu Ray playing, and the music from this trailer sounded scarier than the RE Blu Menu score!

Ah that's just some college thing, or an independent film cashing in on the name. For all intents and purposes it's no different than all those homemade Harry Potter movies on YouTube. I thought this was actually a studio-made sequel to Showgirls. Considering how even MGM is promoting the original as a camp classic, the idea of doing a sequel isn't an impossibility. After all there have been 47 American Pie movies. But this ain't it.

Nice dumbbells, though. Erm.

Actually There really is a sequel and this is a legit trailer for it.

About five months ago, we learned that writer/director Marc Vorlander was developing a sequel to "Showgirls," which will focus on model/actress Rena Riffell who was a minor character in the original.

Well... A restricted trailer for "Showgirls 2: The Return" has now appeared online, making the first film look like an Oscar winner. There is tons of nudity mixed in with random shots of random things.

In the movie, the brother of a stripper, who died from a dose of contaminated cocaine, comes to Frankfurt to find the people responsible and to get revenge. The film is working with a $25 million budget. Clearly most of the money was spent on cocaine.

Showgirls: The Return -- really?

How about these instead:

Showgirls: Come Again
Showgirls: Voyage to the Bottom of the Toilet
Showgirls: Dumb Belles with Dumbbells
Showgirls: Asses, Tits, Really Bad Acting and Unconvincing Violence

I'm fairly sure that Showgirls was a big practical joke by Verhoeven. he may like to roll around in the shit with his movies, but he's certainly no fool.

I'd go along with this. I actually think he's a talented guy, and probably a bit twisted too. I certainly think he knows what he's doing and why. You only have to look at stuff like Robocop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers to see his subversive sense of humour. Apply the same filter to Showgirls and it's not half bad. Not good, but not half bad. It's designed to be appallingly bad. If anything, it's biggest problem is that it isn't quite bad enough in certain places.

There's not doubt that Verhoeven made that film with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek...amongst other places it may have been planted.

Why is There a Meteor in the New 'Showgirls 2' Trailer?
Jun 7th 2010
My favorite moment is easily the shot of a meteor streaking across the sky over what appears to be a graveyard in broad daylight.
four minute promo clip
the hilariously NSFW trailer below and share your favorite moments in the comments section below.

That looks so awful. Why bother with a 4 minute promo clip when 30 seconds could have done the same thing, or else try to fool the audience with a real trailer.
