THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till release

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Thank God I can't crack your code and remain spoiler free. :(

You mean they're not referring to It??

LOL, nor or we referring to this him.

I can't wait to see how the Thor tie in is done vs these second hand reports. Argh!!

There's only one movie that deserves the title "Him" and this is it.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Ok, so I finally saw Iron Man 2 and loved the post credits sequence.
In the movie Agent Coulson makes mention that they(SHIELD) are monitoring a situation in the southwest which makes the end plausible and not a total tagent.
Question: Are the events of IM:2 and Thor happening concurrently?
Not that I expect anyone knows but it does seem possible based on this.

Also, obviously the recovery team shouldn't be able to pick up the hammer. However, they could lift the ground it rests upon, right? Thereby moving a patch of earth that just happens to contain the hammer.

I wish the camera had fixated on the hammer a bit longer, it appears to have some good detail to it. Its not just a blocky hammer, there is some minor definition carved into it.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I don't know about Thor, but Iron Man 2 seems to happen at approximately the same time as The Incredible Hulk. At the end when Stark is meeting with Fury, you can see news reports about Hulk at the Culver university campus on one of the monitors.

So presumably, Stark leaves to see General Ross sometime not long after his meeting with Fury.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

^^
Right, I mentioned the University sequence in my IM:2 write up. And since Coulson mentions monitoring a situation in the southwest then ends up there(how long after Expo fight?) makes me wonder if all 3 films are happening in a tight spacing of time.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

There's some issues with that, though. Stark Enterprises would have had to have been developing weapons at some point, because a specialty Hulk-stopping weapon was used during that very scene... and it was created by Stark Enterprises. It even looked like a larger version of repulsor beams with sonic overtones.

Considering that Tony had never considered the use of his repulsors as weapons (he discovered it by accident in Iron Man 1), I seriously doubt his company would have built giant versions of a similar technology before that (let alone after, considering how Tony put a halt to weapons design via his company).

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Were those specially made to stop the Hulk, though?

Because as of Iron Man 2, Stark Enterprises has only not been developing weapons for six months. There was that prior 50 odd years that they were.

So it's definitely a problem if in The Incredible Hulk they specifically say they were intentionally made to stop Hulk. But if not, I don't think there's a problem. If Wayne Enterprises has a basement with a whole bunch of prototype and unused inventions, why not Stark Enterprises. ;)

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I'm fairly certain those were SONIC weapons not Repulsor technology that were used to stop Hulk. Weapons that could've been sitting around awaiting a good test subject/environment.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

So, I watched The Incredible Hulk last night, and there seems to be some grey areas with the timeline. Presumably, the Culver University scene takes place around the same time as the end of Iron Man 2, and Stark sees General Ross some time after that.

Iron Man 2 opens directly after the first Iron Man, then segues to 6 months later.

The Incredible Hulk, in it's opening credits, shows Banner become the Hulk, and also includes Stark Industries paper work for technology developed for the military in its search for the Hulk. In the beginning of that film, it also says 6 months later. Part of the question may be then how much time passes during The Incredible Hulk.

But I think it's evident from all this that the Hulk was in existence before the first Iron Man film, and Stark Industries had already developed "weapons" technology to try and stop him.

So I would say that the opening credits montage of The Incredible Hulk tells what took place before Iron Man, then Iron Man and the very beginning of Iron Man 2 happen, then Iron Man 2's and The Incredible Hulk's "6 months later" happen roughly concurrently. That'd be my guess about it all so far.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I don't think those Stark weapons were specifically for hunting the Hulk.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

no, IIRC, those sonic-cannon humvees were requisitioned from SI by SHIELD for Ross.

you can roughly work out how long Incredible Hulk takes place over by the 'number of days without incident' counters.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Thor finished shooting on principal photography last week. SuperHeroHype got in a few words with Chris Hemsworth on the end of IM:2 and how he feels thus far about the film.

SuperHeroHype: After the big build-up in "Iron Man 2," are you totally pumped for Thor to hit theaters next year?
Chris Hemsworth: Absolutely! I just finished shooting last Thursday, and saw "Iron Man 2" the other day--which I loved--and saw the tag at the end. I was with a bunch of mates and we all got kind of giddy watching it. I can’t wait! It was such an incredible four months shooting that film, and I think the film’s going to be fantastic.

SHH: We’ve finally seen you in the costume. How did it feel to have the Thor costume on – the very first time, and for four months?
Hemsworth: [Laugh] Yeah, right! Okay, exactly – I put the thing on and said "It’s not very comfortable, but it looks amazing, so it’s all good." And then a couple of weeks in, I thought "It’s getting more and more uncomfortable," and at the end of three, four months it was a pretty difficult thing to wake up and put on every morning. But it’s sells such an image in the picture. It does a lot of the work for you.

Now that they can focus on the F/X I'm really optmistic we can have some minor teaser by July for San Diego Comic Con and a full blown short trailer by the Holiday season.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Am I the only one who considers it a no-brainer that Thor's after-credits sequence will feature SHIELD discovering a man frozen in ice or something equally Cap-specific?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Regarding the events of the post credits in Iron Man 2...Agent Caulson mentions to Tony that he's being reassigned because SHIELD discovered something in the New Mexico desert. Then the post credits scene shows the giant crater and SHEILD cordoning the area off before we pan up to Thor's Hammer. I'm thinking they are cordoning off the area because only one is worthy to wield it. The events take place after the film in my opinion.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

More than one is worthy to wield it. It's just obviously supernatural, hence them reacting the way they are. They also clearly know what it is and who it belongs to and are likely expecting him to show up.

My initial thought was the same. Following the pattern they've had so far.
Fury at the end or IM1 then he keeps tabs on him.
Stark at the end of Hulk, which is also after events in IM2
Thors hammer would seem to also be a type of end, perhaps post Thor. He gets separated from Hammer. Steve Rogers has been deemed worthy and picked the hammer up before.

Still I think it might be mold breaking if the even takes place during the movie, say post first fight and Thor then goes to get it. Thus tying the events of Hulk, Thor & IM2 into an even tighter timeline.

Maybe not only one, but you're in some good company to be included with the likes of Thor, Superman, Beta Ray Bill, Captain America and an amped-up, hell-bent, super-Hulk. :)

They briefly made it canon that only Thor could pick it up (after the Beta Ray Bill incident) but they through that out the window.

Can't wait for Thor and The Avengers movies.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Wonder Woman briefly weilded it in Marvel VS DC before she faced Storm (and got her ass bitch-slapped) and Rogue took it up in a What If? story after she absorbed Thor's life-force.

Um, didn't Tony say the Jericho missiles used repulsor technology when he was showing them off in Afghanistan?

Probably so Shield can mention the Avenger Initiative to him and see if he's interested.

At the end when Stark is meeting with Fury, you can see news reports about Hulk at the Culver university campus on one of the monitors.
You could argue that the footage wasn't live though, and could very well be a few weeks old.
