^ That doesn't mean they will in the future :) The only reason Cap and Thor were most likely released in the same year was because "Avengers" is coming out next year. There's only one Marvel movie coming out next year :)

I was just reading through IGN's "6 Things We Want Thor 2", and they mention wanting to see Beta Ray Bill, Balder, and Valkyrie, who appear to be very big parts of Thor's mythology. So I was wondering, does anyone have any ideas about who should play them if they were to appear in a future story? TBH I was rather shocked Balder wasn't at least mentioned in the movie, because from what I've read he seems to be just as big a part of the mythology as Sif, The Warriors Three, and Heimdall.
The Valkyrie is an odd choice. Other than sharing an Asgardian background, she's never figured all that greatly in Thor's books.( But I'm not up to speed, so that may have changed) The biggest role I recall her having was decades ago when Roy Thomas adapted The Ring of the Nibelung in the Thor comic. Through Odin's manipultions, Thor was tranformed into Siegfried (Seems Don Blake wasn't his first go round as a human) and The Valkyrie is The Valkyrie, Brünnhilde.

^ Valkyrie has been prominently featured recently in Ed Brubaker's "Secret Avengers" as part of Commander Rodgers black ops team. The Ultimate version of the character was introduced in the awful Ultimates 3 story line and was involved with Thor romantically I believe.

Asgard has gone through a series of Ragnaroks and rebirths. And, no, Donald Blake was not Thor's first human avatar, though he's probably Thor's last. Matt Fraction's Thor: Ages of Thunder, which deals with the development of Asgard through the Ragnarok cyclces, depicts one of Thor's earlier human incarnations at one point.

@Gaith thanks for reminding me about "The Amazing Spider-Man" and the Ghost Rider sequel. LOL. Yeah I meant Marvel Studios film.

I was referring to her appearing in Thor's book(s). I recall that Ultimates storyline. I quit buying the title shortly afterwards. She had an....uh, interesting costume.

And there was only one last year - Iron Man 2.

So, if the patten holds, there should be two in 2013, unless the world comes to an end...which would kind of suck if it does.

well when is the avengers sopposed to be out and when will thor 2 be ready?
and what was the avengers leak in the movie? all so loved the hawkeye moment thats great.

we will have

the black widow who was in iron man 2
hawk eye who is in thor
iron man
captin america
thor
the incredible hulk?

either way It will be a great summer all so I saw this in 2d fantastic I am gues most of the 3d was the asgard material.
According to wikipedia the cast includes:
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff (wikipedia doesn't identify her as The Black Widdow and I can't remember if the term was used in IM2.)
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk (Ruffalo will provide mo-cap for Hulk) and Lou Ferrigno as the voice of the Hulk
Colbie Smulders as Maria Hill
Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson
Stellan Skarsgard as Eric Selvig
Paul Bettany as the voice of JARVIS

Valkyrie appeared in Ultimates 2 first, as an unpowered superhero wannabe in the craptastic Defenders team. She then appeared in Ultimates 3, with powers and as Thor's love interest. in New Ultimates, we learn she and the other Defenders gained powers thanks to a deal with Loki. things don't pan out too well for her, or them, thereafter...

^ That's right thanks for that. Couldn't remember when she first appeared. I think the Ultimate Thor mini-series has Thor sleeping with Jane Foster (I saw a panel when I flipped through a random issue) but don't know the extent of their relationship. I've really only been reading Ultimate Comics Spider-Man post-Ultimatium and been ignoring everything else.

i don't remember Jane appearing in Ultimate Thor and i got the trade only last week...

hang on...

no, Jane doesn't even appear. you might be getting confused with Thor sleeping with Hela in New Ultimates...

Whats the numbers looking like??
Thor saw a marginal INCREASE of 1% for the Tuesday dailies. That is important cause big tentpoles more often than not don't increase from Monday to Tuesday.

It made another $5.41m on Tuesday for a total of $76.5m to date after 5 days. Hoping for a really strong hold for it's second weekend!!

I saw a article at the end of the weekend that mentioned Thor cost $150 million to make and by then it had earned $242 million world wide.
