^Not the first, but definitely the second. However I...
thought it was some kind if reference to Norse Mythology. But I'm more well versed in that then I am in Marvel mythology.

So there seems to be a
Dr. Strange
reference in the movie. Anyone catch it? Also the
Eye of Agamotto
is supposed to be in the film too.

Didn't catch any Dr. Strange references apart from the Eye of Agamotto

I saw it just an hour ago and had a great time with it. The script is cheesy at times and the characters are a bit two-dimensional, but all in all it works really well and is a lot of fun, thanks in large part to the actors. Hemsworth especially delivers a great performance and I look forward to seeing him in other Marvel movies. And it's always great to see Natalie Portman, of course.

The one thing that bugged me was the 3D. But I think that had more to do with the calibration of the projector and my position right at the front of the cinema than the 3D conversion (which did feel rather unnecessary, though).

My theater was PACKED, by the way. I hope this is successful enough to warrant further Thor standalone movies.

Back from the theatre, and I have to say: By Odin, that was awesome! :techman:

A- for me: not perfect, but thoroughly enjoyable. Even my girlfriend, who is not really into superheroes and came mostly to make me happy, ended up loving it. So, I'd say it really worked on more than one level. Good performances from everybody, but Loki was especially wonderful. Subtle, hungry, sad, and nasty. Totally owned.

I just noticed something... which in hindsite is funny...
Thor - The god of thunder and lightning gets knocked out cold onto his ass by what... electricity or rather lightning (tazer)....

GAH!

I wasn't going to bother with Thor, but now I think I must. Is the movie I really want to see right around the corner? :D

And not that I've been following things too closely but is the idea for Marvel to develop their various characters (that they have movie rights to anyway) and throw them into movies in the future?

Because Thor and the person in your spoilers would be very interesting...I can't recall any comics crossovers between those two.

I haven't read their spoilers but that is what Avengers is about. Combining Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America(the headliners) into one film. Along with the supporting characters of Nick Fury, Black Widow(ScarJo) and Hawkeye.
Avengers at Wiki.

Don't get too excited ;), Dr. Strange doesn't actually appear in the movie and the Eye of Agamotto is on screen for about two seconds

^ I never said he was in the film or that it was the screen for any length of time, just that they were both referred to in the film.

If he is I didn't catch it, but there was a reference to
a gamma scientist Jane Foster's partner worked with. Didn't name any names thought so it's not specifically Bruce Banner.

^a scientist who 'disappeared' which kinda suggests who it is...

i didn't notice any mentions to Strange. saw what looked like the Eye, but wasn't sure...(not a big Dr Strange fan...)

I preferred the guy from Hulk vs. Thor in the 80s.

"T'is a Miracle this internal plumbing! It verily hath both HOT and COLD water!"

Hopkins is pissing me off.

Sif was prettier than Jane and Darcy was pretty than Sif.

Loki wasn't all that bad. A little Nixony, but next movie after getting his ass handed to him he's going to be completely Hitlery.
