Thomas Riker

Janos

Commander
Red Shirt
Were TNG's Second Chances and DS9's The Defiant compiled any Fan Collective set or to have them in DVD I'll need to get TNG Season 6 DVD set (for Second Chances) and DS9 Season 3 DVD set (for The Defiant)?

Dang I'm surprised no one has answered this. Neither episode has been in a fan collective set so the answer (sadly) is you'd have to purchase the two seasons.

Thanks, but.... :sigh: Not good news.

I have the VHS's.......

I know it's not ideal but another option would be purchasing the two individual episodes off iTunes or some other similar service.

I wish he had killed Will Riker and replaced him to be discovered half a season later.

While i think that would be interesting, I doubt that there would be a positive reception of having one of TNG's beloved characters killed behind the scenes.

Then why did he join the Maquis? They went against the Federation, Starfleet, blah blah blah we've all heard that before.

When he turns against his oath to Starfleet and so on, blah blah blah. Sisko made a big point of it with Eddington.

Personally, I would love to have seen Thomas Riker as a main character on Voyager. It would have enabled Jonathan Frakes to continue playing Riker (or a Riker) on TV, as he'd wanted to do when Next Generation ended, they would have had the benefit of a more-or-less new character but a familiar actor, and all kinds of things could have been done with Tom in the Delta Quadrant.

Of course, the down side is that I would then have had to watch Voyager....

I could see Thomas Riker replacing Will Riker if Riker was originally a DS9 character. After all, they kinda did that with O'Brien being killed and replaced in that episode where he keeps jumping forward in time. TNG would never do something that dark and daring, though.

I once saw an interview where Frakes said he kept bugging people asking them when he'd get to play Thomas Riker again. It was a little weird how the writers just let the character be shipped off to prison never to be heard from again. I expect more redemptive arcs in Star Trek. I thought it was funny when Frakes laughed about producers assuring him he'd get a chance to reprise the role again one day, only for the show to go off the air before he ever did. :)

Wasn't the early plan to kill Will in that episode, leaving Frakes to play "Tom" for the rest of the show? It would have shaken up the dynamic anyway, perhaps leaving Data first officer, and Riker more like the cocky young man of the first two seasons. We might not have had the execrable Deanna-Worf thing too.

Second Chances was a great episode, but I never quite bought the Maquis thing in Defiant. Not to mention the hilarious "fake sideburns" scene. Yeah, we know it's not the real Riker, because only villains have goatees!
