This Topic Reassures Me I Am NOT TOO GEEKY

I will re-post what I just did in another thread.

"I am a Star Trek fan, I have been since 1975 when I was 12, but the things some fans obsess over makes me scratch my head in wonder. I am not a Star Trek Fundamentalist the type of fan who looks on these issues with almost religious zeal."

Erm, QFT.

Before I came here, I thought I was a major geek for thinking the new Enterprise was pretty crappy, I was worried about the authors and producer, hated the new bridge and thought the plot sounded dumb.

But man.... some guys on here take my (in comparison) mild dissatisfaction for this movie and wow....it's like a bloody jihad with them or something.

I don't know. I think labelling the opinions people post about a movie when they have a few spare minutes at work a "jihad" is pretty geeky.

I don't know, either, but I do think that this thread has demonstrated that Trek fans are sane, quick to be defensive, never sane, enthusiastic, protective of their DVD sets, down on Voyager, after J.J.'s fine ass, accepting of new material, die-hard canonites and/or a whole lot of other things. In other words, pretty much the same as ever and, having been so reassured, we can safely assume now that the thread has adequately served its purpose.

Closing.
