I think he wanted Locke to do it himself. He needed to get passed the pain and doubt and do this on his own. And he did.

I think that he might not be able to physically touch people, but he can influence objects.

That was SUCH a good episode. I got a little upset when it ended where it did. Damn it; I need MORE!

and if they do, why would Clare tell Kate to not bring Aaron back?

And, I don't think Ben knew Eloise was Daniel's mother. In fact, I think he realizes he may have a much deeper interest in that relationship than a casual observer.
