This odd memory

I've had this odd memory since I was about 8 years old. I was in this weird building, it almost reminded me of a bank. It had a prestigious or important feeling about it, like a government building. It was very dimly lit and there was nobody around. There was a small reception-type desk with nothing on it, and two plants on either side, some sort of tropical tree. There were these evenly-spaced pillars creating a corridor of sorts leading up to the desk. Everything looked like it was built out of some sort of stone, black shot through with dark green.

Does anybody know of a building that might match this description? It's driving me crazy and I want to know what the hell this memory is.

I'm sure I don't know but others may be able to help better if you mentioned what city you live in and where you could have possibly visited when you were that age.

^^
Yes, I've asked around but nobody seems to know what I was talking about. Maybe I was abducted by aliens and they put a false memory in my brain...

I'm sure I don't know but others may be able to help better if you mentioned what city you live in and where you could have possibly visited when you were that age.

I could either have been in three places at that age: Crescent City, Oregon, or Texas. I moved around quite a lot then and it's all blurred together.

Could it have been a dream?

I was going to mention this but thought not if he says he was 8 at the time.
What I mean is the thing where you mix up dreams with reality may end (I think) before then.
I have a couple of things I thought for sure happened till my mom told me that they certainly didn't (nothing bad...just goofy 'memories') so they must've been dreams.

I think this can happen with TV shows and movies too. As a kid you see a commercial for some movie and then years later you may think you'd seen that movie when you were young.
I had a long debate with a friend in 1985 or 1986 that he'd watched The Empire Strikes Back on TV in 1980.
I told him he must've seen a making of and got confused (we're the same age and in 1980 we'd have been 7) and asked if maybe his dad had gotten a pirated VHS but he didn't get a VCR till '83.

^also, it depends on how he interpreted the place and events. If his parents didin't see it that way, they might won't be able to tell them based on his description of the memory.

^^
I tend to think it's a place I visited only once, maybe because my mom had to go to work and maybe brought me with her. I just want to know what this place is (if it exists) so I can quit wondering why I'm having this memory.

Yeah. I had a thought earlier that one of your parents might have said something that you didn't truly get at that young age and felt it was all about something much more special instead of being a routine errand or something.

Don't let it bug you. It doesn't matter anymore. I do have memories of places that I cannot place.
