This movie is getting a LOT of press! Newsweek? Men's Health?!

I feel like a kid in a candy store seeing the Enterprise on the cover of Newsweek! "Kirk" on the cover of Men's Health! A huge, sweeping advertisement as I step onto the D.C. Metro Station!

Star Trek is everywhere! :)

Except in Europe, where, at least in London, there's NOTHING apart from magazine covers and the odd 1 or 2 tv interviews.

Maybe they should rename it "Newsgeek".......

This will be the first and probably the last time I pick me up a copy...but the article is online, looks like a nice article......

I have the cover posted on my workstation :). Fitting since I work for a foreign policy institution. There's a great one-page graphic of Spock in there, too.

I'll second that.

Nothing around here, not even a small quad poster in the theatres. All we have is Wolverine, Angles and Demons, State of Play, Hannah Mon-FUCKING-tana etc etc, but not much else.

Ive seen magazines such as Sci Fi now, SFX, Star Trek Magazine UK etc, but thats it.

That's really as good as it gets though. The two articles are some of the worst fillers I've ever read on any subject. The first article screams Paid Advertisement at the top of it's lungs. The second is basically the "meat" of the featured story, written by Leo Mlodinow, who is a physicist and former Trek writer during TNG.

That said, it's an especially bland "account" of his days as a Trek writer, and it's really a shame for him to waste his first-hand experience with both Gene and the production as a whole. Either they gave him very little time to write this, or they (CBmount) edited the crap out of the article.

Considering what the article could and should have been about, I was disappointed as well... doesn't change the fact that it's great publicity for the movie.

Well that's too bad if what you say is true that the article sucked, I mean could it be that bad "the worst fillers ever read"...really...EVER...?? When I glanced at it, didn't seem that bad.....I wish I had time for extra curricular activities at work!!

Next week, JJ Abrams is on the cover of Playgirl, Simon Pegg is on the cover of Modern Bride, Karl Urban is on the cover of Ranger Rick, Chris Pine is on the cover of Fit Pregnancy and Zachary Quinto is on the cover of The Economist. :p

Don't judge the magazine for that, though. The Newsweek team is quite good at non-pop culture stuff, especially Fareed Zakaria. He's the only reason I have a subscription at the moment.

As for the articles, they're just terrible at being filler material, not necessarily the worst op-eds I've ever read (which is really what they are). The problems is that not only do they bring little new or old information or anecdotes, but the content they do present is devoid of dates, places, names, and most other details. That especially gives the the impression that they either had so little time to write this that they couldn't fact-check what they did know, or that they had a lot of content that was cut by CBmount's request. (I have little doubt that the reason it's a cover story is because of CBmount's marketing campaign.)

I love the bit in the newsweek piece that compares the Bush and Obama administrations vis a vis Star Wars and Star Trek. Bush is Darth Vader , Obama is Spock, etc.

All the guys I work with teased me about my Star Trek tattoo until they saw the trailer for this movie. Now they think it is cool.

did you find the cover online on Newseek.com? if so, please post the link. every time I click on it, all I get is some other pic.

There's also an article in this week's "Time" magazine, and it is noted along the top of the cover with a picture.
