Hmm, I grew up in the '70s/'80s and never heard it. Must be a regional thing. (Or a national thing. I don't know what country you're from.)

West Coast for me. I never heard "mint" used in that sense during the 70s, 80s or any other time. Some of the Urban Dictionary entries put it in the North of England.

^^Other slang terms come and go, but "cool" is somehow timeless. It's been around since the Jazz Age at least. Indeed, it probably doesn't even count as slang anymore.
