'Reading Rainbow' used to be a staple of my babysitting days.
The kids liked it, the parents liked it, and I could watch it with out wanting to kill myself---unlike, say, the endless viewings I had to endure of "Rainbow Bright."

I loved Reading Rainbow. I watched it when I was a kid, before I had ever seen Star Trek, so the first time I saw TNG (about 5 years ago), my reaction to Geordi was, "Oh my god, it's the Reading Rainbow guy!!!"
like when i found out that george carlin was mr. conductor.
