This guy has issues with Bill Shatner

Duane

This is pretty funny and a little disturbing...
I'm not able to post a link for some reason. If you google "why I hate William Shatner" you will see the blog.

FYI - I totally disagree with the blog's conclusions.

It certainly reads like a parody written in the first-person character of a clueless idiot.

Sadly, that doesn't necessarily mean it's not on the level.

Guy's a putz, but that some folks felt that they had to reply in order to defend Shatner at length - "he was broke in 1970" - is almost as weird.

hehehe, some person under the name "Wisdom of Youth" (weirdest username ever) posted this reply, and I felt I had to share:

Are you serious? It was a quarter, dude. A. Quarter. Is 25 cents really worth agonizing over for three decades? Do you really think he cared much that you were calling from a pay phone?
After the Star Trek show got cancelled, he was broke until the Motionless Picture came out, and that kinda bombed.
Seriously, dude, it was 25 cents and it was 30 something years ago. Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the fuck over it you psychopathic, petty, parsimonious prick.

I don't know if that remark about him being broke and the first movie bombing is true, though. But I do love the last sentence. :)

Yeah, beautiful alliteration, isn't it. :techman: (Btw, as far as I know he's correct about Shatner being broke at that time.)

Oh my, that "psychopathic, petty, parsimonious prick" (hell, it's even great writing it...) probably is a member of the "George Ta-KEI Congregation for William Shatner Bashing"... :rommie:

Just read that blog: well, that's ten minutes of my life I'll never get back! :brickwall:

The "psychopathic, petty, parsimonious prick" sentence made it somewhat worthwhile visiting the page for, though...

Broke or not, if some "producer" wants to talk to a star, it seems only fair that it be on the producer's dime (quarter).

So, let me get this straight. A nobody in the film business who doesn't even have a job, makes up a name and production company to basically fool Shatner into doing this movie that he technically isn't a part of yet, and he gets mad when Shatner doesn't shell out the money for a phone call. Seriously?!

I find it interesting that he doesn't say how the conversation went. If Shat was nice or a jerk on the phone. The guy is just fixated on the quarter.

Huh, this is interesting, because now our blogger friend is trying to backpedal out of it. He writes:

I wrote the piece tongue-in-cheek. It seems that British humour doesn't translate too well in some languages/countries.

And then the ever famous Mr. Anonymous came back with this:

More like humor doesn't translate well to text, unless it is made explicitly clear that it's a piece of humor. You failed to do anything of the sort, thus leading the reader to the inescapable conclusion that you're a delusional nutjob with far too much time on your hands.
Consider yourself lucky Shatner doesn't sue your sorry ass for slander.

Oh, snap. Snap indeed, Mr. Anonymous. However, the blogger friend may indeed have been writing it as satire. Even so, it was not apparent that he meant it to be humorous. It sure as hell wasn't humorous- it sounded like the delusional ravings of someone who clearly should not be allowed around movie stars.

Our blogger friend has yet to reply. Any thoughts?

#1: If you're going to blog about someone you hate, don't write an unbelievably boring rant.
#2: I can't believe nobody has said "Get a Life!" yet.
