This business about 2012....

Tricky, if you're a brave, brave man, there's a thread in The Neutral Zone you need to read... :D

December 21, 2012 is approximately 8 weeks after the U.S. Presidential election. Why can't the world end before we have to put up with all that bullshit?

Yesterday was our primary election in Colorado and between all the negative campaign ads and constant barrage of pre-recorded campaign calls I want to vote them all out.

I'm going to take a chance and not buy any Xmas presents till Dec 22nd in 2012, and if the world comes to end on the 21st i will have saved a fortune.:)

On December 21, 2012 I will stand on the roof of my house with my arms outstretched just like the crazy people in Boston, MA did back in the mid-1800s when they thought the world was going to end.
Then, on December 22, 2012 I will post here: "Wow that was some apocalyptic ending of the world."

Nothing much will happen. At the most though would be astronomical events happening during the year, some of which have most likely been predicted to be the cause of doom. Predictions like these are like fairy-tales. We only know what we've been told through writing, as being bigger than they are, not to mention that we have a lot more knowledge about science than when these predictions were made. People like the Mayans back then didn't fully understand what they saw; they only saw that something would be happening. Something like a significant amount of solar activity would have caused them to panic, and it's happened in the past.

Right now, we have a low amount of solar activity, and it's been like this for the last 2 years, and it's starting to rebound. Scientists are saying that within 2 years, we will hit a peak, and this is most likely what the Mayans saw and predicted because of their beliefs. This is significant as one of their gods was a Sun God, and that they used astronomical knowledge to predict future human events.

Tricky, in the UserCP, down the left, there's a listing for Group Membership, click on that. You opt in to TNZ there.

Good luck (you'll need it  )

I am disappointed with this thread. The thread on the same topic in the "other place' has more than 9000 posts but this thread is struggling to even reach 50 posts.

If this one kept going for a year, I hope it would have close enough to 9000 posts.

Of course, this one doesn't have the spark that it needs to keep going for a year. Only 'the other place' provides that.

Read the posts by Tachy, myself, Squiggy, cooleddie, Carrie and maybe one or two others (RedRanger) and you should get the gist of it. ;)

But the thread is certainly epic and will go on until The Day occurs.

It'd be nice to have an nice way to print it off via the board software.

^ I always thought the MadBaggins threads should have been turned into an opera, with all the action happening onstage, and the Chorus played by the rest of teh board. That would be hi-larious!
