This is somewhat interesting:

The BBC probably wishes now it had shot all of Doctor Who on film to cash in on the 50th even more :)

It would've been hard for any production company to see 40 years ahead, but much moreso for the Beeb.

Agreed it would have been nice.

I hardly ever double-dip by buying the Blu-ray of something I own on DVD, but I might make the exception in this case. Since this is the only classic Who that can be converted it's not like I'll be committing myself to spilling money for the next year or so, and Spearhead From Space is a pretty good story on its own anyway.

I find it hard to drum up any kind of enthusiasm for this triple or maybe quadruple release.

They probably wish they hadn't thrown away all the SD recordings they once had as well.

We might be saying the same thing about HD recordings once 4K TV hits.

I can't get over the picture of Jon Pertwee on this blu ray. He looks like he's watching someone throwing up. It doesn't make the Doctor look heroic...

While's it's up as a subject, does anyone else think Spearhead from Space is an absolute snore with one very good idea in the shop dummies coming to life? Episode one has to be one of the worst individual episodes of classic Who.

Nah, The 3rd Doctor was just as shy as The 11th. River was being amorous and Three didn't know what to do or where to hide.

That's jut temporary art. Here's the real one, and it's much better:

If you have your Special Edition DVD, don't pitch it away yet. Despite the wishes of the Restoration Team, the BBC decided not to include the two new documentaries that were made for that DVD, and it's not clear from this press release whether or not the Blu-Ray includes either audio commentary. On the flip side, this release will have two new documentaries of its own.

I have this already but i think i will dip into it again on BR, love Pertwee in this, i dont mind the extra cost for it on HD.

Plus i am getting the two Cushing Who movies which are also just comong out on HD. :)

A) Shit artwork on both covers.
B) The second cover looks like the American Dr. Who DVDs
C) Not gonna buy it. Ever.

That's because it is the American cover. The British cover will apparently have the same artwork, but will be more like the Revisitations - a new cover and a flip cover matching the DVD range.

Pindar, I think it's the fifth release, at least in the UK.

I've already got it on pre-order. Looking forward to it! Even though it isn't my favorite Pertwee story, I still enjoy it!

That sound about right, and The Terror of the Autons twin pack, which is the one that annoyed me the most.

Well in R2, not sure about VHS, but on DVD they did the original, I think on in a box set with terror of the autons, the visitations volume 1 box set, and they did the original release but with a card cover on top which looked more like the modern series, which probably tried to appeal to fans of the new show.

Oh, and I think this is the final UK cover.

It wasn't part of the Revisitation sets.

The special edition was only released with Terror.

The fourth episode of the story has the unfortunate claim to fame of being the first episode to have lost its entire credited cast.
