Things you want but regret buying

How often do you suffer from buyer's remorse? You really, really want something, but when you eventually get it, it's either an overhyped lemon or you realise it hasn't transformed your life in the way you expected and you've effectively burnt your hard-earned money.

For example, I'm itching to get my hands on the AKAI Pro Force when it becomes available in February even though there are quite a few reviewers who have dismissed it for its lack of VST instuments and its inability to download projects from Ableton Live. (Integration with AL is promised in a future update but you will only be able to upload projects.) However, to me, even though I'm not a performer, it looks like it might be ultra satisfying to be able to do my musical noodling away from the computer. My suspicion is that I might end up regretting spending a wad of cash on something that could turns out to be very limited compared to using the DAW.

Yup, me too. I couldn't really see much improvement over ordinary Blu-rays or even streamed HD content.

I can tell a difference, but it just isn't enough of a difference for me to choose it over streaming options in most situations.

Nothing catastrophically expensive, but the discrete sound card that I got for my PC was probably a waste of money. I'm not sure what advantage it offers over onboard sound.

Slightly clearer recording and playback (in terms of buzz and hum interference that can occur with an audio chip on a motherboard).

Less CPU load due to the audio data being handed off to the sound card hardware.

I'm no performer, by any means, but I do love toys, especially flashy, colorful, buttony toys. Ugh.

I'm not sure I'd want to put that much money into something like that, though I have been thinking about the Novation Launchpad or Launchpad Pro, not only for music making but also as a macro player for other programs, such as my 3d modeling program using Bome MIDI Translator.

I also really, really, really want a Native-Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49:

The Komplete Kontrol seems very interesting. I need to look into it - particularly the workflow. It's also much less expensive.

ETA: Looked into it. Jeez, the KK mk2 s61 is freaking enormous and I'd still need to use a DAW to arrange. Also I might get sucked into buying a Maschine, which requires yet more space.

If I don't pre-order the Force and I'm lucky, it might get sold out. I can then watch all the youTube videos of people's actual experience using the thing. I suspect a lack of instruments is the likeliest drawback for me. The Force has four synths but I have no idea how much variation that would yield. 10GB of samples is not much compensation if all you're really getting is a glorified drum machine that can also make very similar electronic bleeps.
