Things we've learn from video games

The idea behind this thread is to state things that you've "learned" from video games. Naturally, the item must be true about one or more existing video games, but avoid getting too specific. Here's an example:

Anyone can jump their own height. Especially in the first jump.

Anyone else?

it takes a senior NCO or an officer to open a locked door.

privates can order around sergeants.

firing a rocket at the ground and leaping at the same time will not kill you, but throw you further into the air.

you can run at full speed even when badly injured
also, never touch a red barrel . . . the slightest bump will make it explode

No matter how close to death you are, a simple first aid kit can get you back to the peak of health (although it might take more than one.)

Flipping a car will result in it exploding every time.

Artificial intelligences are always evil. Always.

You can kill anyone you want with absolutely no consequences at all.

You can pick up any weapon you find lying on the ground and immediately know how to use it--and even be proficient with it despite having no training.

"Experimental" weapon prototypes always work perfectly.

Severely-wounded and even dead enemies will magically regenerate should they ever leave your field of vision.

Also, there are no building codes in the world of video games. Bridges and other structures collapse with frightening frequency under little or no stress.

On the other hand, very few things are actually flammable--trees and wooden buildings almost never burn when exposed to fire.
