Things to do in Orlando?

Dinner theaters are often a good evening's entertainment. There's everything from murder mysteries to horse shows.

Have a good time!

Whatever you do, don't go to that awful pirate show one! I was down there for a conference and they had an event at some pirate knock-off of Medieval Times. I thought, how bad can it be? We waited around forever and about ten minutes into the meal I was extremely ill and had to leave. And I really don't have a sensitive stomach in general.

Someone upthread also mentioned Howl At The Moon. I love the Chicago version, so I think I was a bit disappointed in the one at Orlando. It may have just been a down night. I still ended up dancing on the stage with some random girl, though.

While I like the KSC idea, apparently it's only open until 5:30, and the bus tours stop "four hours before closing", which I guess means 1:30 or so. (Although they describe it as "throughout the day"?) Anyway, probably won't work.

I'm not a fan of bars, nightclubs, or anything that might have excessively loud music.

There is a place called Wonderworks which looks like it would be interesting, but it also looks like someplace I might seem out-of-place if not accompanied by a kid. It's so hard to tell with these things....

I'm a Disney cast member, and I'll tell you EVERYTHING at Downtown Disney is shutdown pretty much. Virgin, all the clubs, gone. Disneyquest is still there (Big videogame arcade basically) and some shops and restaurants. Cirque de Soleil is there but expensive as hell. You really would be better off at Universal Citywalk, and their theater shows classics every night. Church Street Station is home to Orlando's clubs and nightlife. Or try Ybor City in Tampa, about 90 minutes away.

Perhaps I'll try Universal tomorrow. Tonight I can't seem to work up the interest to go anywhere.

It sucks visiting a city like this on my own....

Skycraft suplus: the home for all your geeky 'tronics and hardware purchases. If Mythbusters did anything in Florida, they'd shop here.

Also, if you lose a power brick for anything, this is the place to go for a replacement. I got one for an external harddrive that had somehow burned out its original power supply, and one for a friend's laptop.

If you do go to Downtown Disney you MUST eat at Earl of Sandwhich. Probably the best sandwich place I've ever eaten at. Not all that expensive either!

You're also an hour drive from my favorite steak restaurant in the entire country.

Now, spending 2 hours in the car might seem excessive, but I've done it when staying in Orlando. Seriously, I'm not kidding. My favorite IN THE COUNTRY.

If those photos don't get you excited...well then it's probably not worth the drive for you. :p

It's ok. It's a take off of Ripleys. It is located on International drive. International drive is the mother of all quantum singularities of tourist traps. So hell yeah you need to go.

Oh and another vote for Universal city walk.
