Things that frustrate us all

I've trained myself to forget phone numbers immediately after they're given to me. So all I have left is the intense, burning rage that nobody has as yet BANNED INFOMERCIALS!

I bet that number is frustrating as hell to people who actually have it.
True story: a family friend of ours ended up with the number 777-7777. He got repeated phone calls, usually teens or old ladies, who would then ask "Is this a real number?" He got real tired of that, really quickly.

Similarly, the town I lived in only had two prefixes for the number at the beginning; 777 and 773. Well, the local grocery store had one prefix, and the some poor guy kept getting wrong numbers because people would forget which prefix.

How do I know? I accidentally called him once. He sighed, told me the correct prefix and hung up.

I will admit, when I was much younger, myself and a couple buddies did try that number with various area codes.

We would sing the song, and sometimes the person on the other end just sang along. It was actually funny.

It turns out we're not getting any mail because the mailbox is broken (looks fine to me) and everyone on the block has to go to the post office to pick up our mail. This would've been fine if anyone had told us! There's no note, no message, no nothing.

you know where the number actually came from? When you tap out 8675309 on the phone, it forms a pattern.

I've got one that really pisses me off.

When no matter how many times you bring up facts, or how many of their points you actually concede are valid, someone keeps throwing words like 'sexism' or 'racism' or any other 'ism' when not a single word that mentions gender, ethnicity, or preferences were used.

I hate it when people assume such things when there is no intent in words of expressions. (Granted, it's harder to tell tone with texts or online posts, but if no words are used to indicate any of those 'isms', it's not fair to put them on someone.)

Honestly, such assumptions says more about that person than the one they are trying to throw those terms to.

I am over the use of acronyms in text based exchanges. "LMAO" and "LOL" have pretty much topped my list of basic rudeness nowadays. It doesn't convey anything but scorn.

Today I am all funned out from this.

At my store today I came closer than I have in years, to actually punching a customer in the face.

Of course it had to happen on a Wednesday. Senior discount day. When nobody seems to fucking get it that if you don't have a smartphone, with our app on it, you can't get the digital coupon.

(I know what you mean. It can be very frustrating.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :) )
Should have added a "get off my lawn" meme ;)

I do not miss coupons in retail. At all. Nike was always excluded-always. And people would come in and stack the stuff up and show the coupon and then complain about why we would send out coupons and then not take them...

So when I originally read this post, I didn't think anything of it. However, after reading a certain thread in the Picard forum, it sort of casts this post in a different light.

If I am remembering correctly, you are fairly new to this thread, so you may not have seen the admonishments in the past. So just to let you, and other thread participants, know, this thread isn't to be used to surreptitiously complain about other posters, or about interactions or other goings-on elsewhere on the board. Thank you everyone for your attention to this.

@fireproof78 , I sense that you are not having a great day today, so I apologize for potentially adding to your frustration.

I apologize.

This is something that happened a while back, but another post about vegetarians reminded me of this.

When someone is making something vegan/vegetarian, and they don't bother telling you, and you actually do notice it's not a burger, steak, etc., but they still insist that it is the Real McCoy. You try it, and do your very best to hide that it doesn't taste good at all. (When somebody cooks something for me, I'm not going to be a dick and hate on it immediately because they took the time to cook it to begin with.) It's only then that they tell you it was vegan/vegetarian, despite being told before it wasn't.

Why lie about that if you're asked directly? You think by lying to me that my taste buds won't know the difference? Just be upfront.

Pretty much everything I've tasted that was vegan was terrible. (My own experiences... if you are vegan and like the stuff, awesome for you.) My problem is the lying about it. And if vegan stuff is so good, why go to so much trouble trying to make it appear like the genuine article?

I know people respond to visual cues with food, but it can't be just that. This has baffled me for a long time.

If there are vegans/vegetarians here, this is a genuine, serious question: why go through all the trouble to make the stuff look like bacon, steak, etc. if you yourselves don't like such things?

This has been my question for the longest time. I do not understand the obsession with trying to create these replications using plant product. If I want a salad, or other vegetarian option, I'll go for it. But, saying it's vegetarian meat is just...strange.

Maybe I'm too pedantic for my own good on these things.

They probably want you to think its real then make a big deal about telling you it's not and that you can't tell the difference.

What annoys me more about 'some' vegetarians or vegans is them feeling they are superior to meat eaters and lecturing on why you should give up meat etc yourself.
