Things that frustrate us all

Did I read that right? "God's WIll"

Why don't people who seemingly want unrestircted access to guns just admit that's what they want no matter how many innocent people die for their fetish?

After the Uvalde massacre, Texas attorney general Ken Paxton said: "If I lost one of my children I'd be pretty devastated, especially in a way that is so senseless and seemingly has no purpose. I think ... I would just have to say, if I had the opportunity to talk to the people I'd have to say, look, there's always a plan. I believe God always has a plan. Life is short no matter what it is. And certainly, we're not going to make sense of, you know, a young child being shot and killed way before their life expectancy."

Pissed a lot of people off. The fundies, on the other hand, were fully behind him.

I very much doubt if in case someone murdered one of his children he'd really shrug and say "god's will".
I keep thinking of my old zoology prof who used to say: "humans build guns and bombs - no mouse would be so stupid as to build a mouse trap". Sometimes I am really embarrassed to be a human. Most animals have so much more common sense than we do.

Well, I made it thru my procedure covid free. But I tested positive for it yesterday. So there is that. :(. So far not so bad. The shots were worse. It is more like a bad cold. So hanging in there. My husband is getting better. But right now with the muggy weather we are both feeling pretty out of it.
Ouch! I do hope you both get better very soon! Take things slow after the infection is over. The current strand has a tendency to weajken the heart. If you put too much strain on it too rearly, your heart can be damaged beyond repair. A young colleague was banned from using his bicycle for 6 months and I feel dizzy after just half an hour of weeding.

I'm not.

I mean, I'm certainly not denying that humans have done some terrible things. But they have also done some very GOOD things. Nobody ever pays attention to those, do they? It's always the bad stuff.

There is definitely a "culture of shame" that has arisen in the last few years. And it has to stop, because it's not helping anyone. It's just making everybody feel like dirt. I mean, of course I know about some bad things my own government has done in the past, but does this mean I should be ashamed to be an American? Hell no! It just means I should do my part to prevent things like that from happening again.

Not being ashamed of [thing] is NOT the same as being proud of [thing].

Just saw something that irritates me, apparently Brandon Sanderson, who is already a big bestselling author, did a Kickstarter for his next books that made $45 million. This kind of pisses me off because I thought the whole point of Kickstarter was that it was for the small projects from up and comers, who wouldn't be able to get their projects funded any other way, not hugely successful people, who already worth craploads of money, and could have easily gotten their works released through traditional methods.
And then there's the fact that this made so much money when there are so many other worthy causes out there that could use that kind of $$$. Right now some of the animal sanctuaries I follow are struggling just to raise a few thousand $$, or if you don't care about animals, there are tons of just as worthy human causes that could easily use that kind of money, like charities for the homeless, or wounded veterans, or children's hospitals.

I see the Sanderson Kickstarter project's goal was $1 million. That already seems like a lot to me; granted, I'm not familiar with the whole process of writing and publishing novels. Perhaps that much really is needed for an author to pay the bills while working on the books and secure publishing deals for four novels. Anyway, maybe a crowdfunding site should automatically close a project to additional backing once the goal is reached. But then that would make the rewards/gifts/whatever a more rare commodity and drive up their price on the secondary market. I hate it when I find some interesting game or something but it was a crowdfunded exclusive that I missed out on, so then the only option is to buy it on ebay for three times the original pledge level.

My would-be catfisher is back. :sigh:

I dont know who's more pathetic, them or me. I mean, I realized early enough that whoever this person really is, they're a money-grubbing piece of shit, but am I that clinically THICK that they think I'll fall for it again?

Oh well. I got out then, I won't get INTO it now. So if they think I'm so stupid? Let 'em.

My parents aren't computer-savvy yet they have no intention of ever learning. They just ask their kids to do things for them. Which is a stark contrast to when we were growing up and they taught us the importance of knowing how to do things for ourselves.

Pluto TV app just disappeared from my playstation menu. I had to go into the app store to locate it. WTF man? I hope nothing happens to it. I use it all the time. I love Pluto TV. It's the perfect companion to Hulu. It's loaded with old titles perfect for background tv. Between Hulu & Pluto you literally are getting a better tv experience than cable ever had imho.

One of those weeks where every time I turned around it cost me money.Between car and home insurance coming due together and a couple of other things I was paying out like it was going out of fashion....

My mom and I went out to see the wild donkeys at a park near us, and I realized one of the bad things about living in the desert, there's nowhere to hide when you're outside. We've started to feel kind of bad, because whenever we see them, they always stop what they're doing and watch us until we leave. Today I was thinking maybe we could try to somewhere to watch them where they couldn't see us, but there is nowhere. There are a few trees and bushes, but they're all so small and thin that you are still completely visible when you're behind them. So as long as we can see the donkeys, they can see us.

I've looked a stuff on Offerup many times but I never got around to signing up. I finally joined the other day to make an offer on one particular local listing. But the seller isn't responding to my inquiries.

Amazon order has been on backorder a while. Got an email saying I need to approve this delay in the next month to keep the order open, otherwise they'll cancel it at this time next month. I click on it, it takes me to the approve page, I have to check the approve button (which is already checked), then press the update order button. Takes me to the page of the order, which tells me approval is needed. I press the view or approve changes button, takes me back to the original approve page. I get an email that says I approved the delay, but on the website it still says I need to approve it and clicking on the buttons it tells me to just puts me in this repeat cycle.

I really regret doing what I did this week, I knew I was probably going to regret, but I did anyway, and now I'm wishing I hadn't.
