Things that frustrate us all

Nothing was broken, although it was a collectable item which takes condition into consideration.

I read up on delivery drivers who throw things. Unless it's drastic and causes bad publicity -- there's a video that went viral several years ago of a FedEx driver who threw a computer monitor over a gate and broke it -- the union will protect them and nothing will be done to change their habits. If they're just seasonal help, on the other hand, they get thrown to the wolves without hesitation.

That's the video I always think of when this stuff is mentioned. Yikes

When your friends upgrade their tech & keep showing it off...

When you have an item in your cart (say, an Xbox Series X), and you're literally finishing up putting in your payment info, then they sell the goddamned thing that's IN YOUR CART!!!

Then, you go to the store, ask if they have any, and they tell you you have to buy it online, and that more will be available at 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm, and none even show up as being in stock at that time

I REALLY hate Walmart and wish there were more shopping options in the godforsaken area I live in

I've been experiencing hurricane/tropical storm Eta. My power and everyone else's on my street and the one behind us went out around 2:45. I looked up the power company's website and they were aware of the problem but couldn't say when they'd fix it.
I understand they have a lot of trouble spots because of the storm. I drove past a staging area (at 7 pm) where they had at least 100 trucks waiting to go out. The truck didn't even get to us to check out the problem until 11:30 and then it only took them 5 minutes to fix it.

Over here, most power lines go subterranean and thus are well protected from storms. Wouldn't that be a good alternative for the hurricane states? I assume not all of Florida is swampy area.

My argh of the day is rather small compared to yours: I had planned a lighter workload for next year and now for the third time in 2 weeks I get saddled with special research programmes that have by now blown up my list of sampling sites from 12 to some 60. Do they think I'm Scotty and can beam myself from one site to the next??

They've talked about burying the lines on the islands and keys around here but I haven't heard any anything about doing it in town. Would be nice.

(ETA - I don't know how to quote yet on these newfangled boards of yours)

This was me and the Playstation 5 today. Got as far as the confirmation button on checkout, errored out a few times, and then when it went through it was all "Whoops sorry there's no more!"

I understand doing an online-only launch in these times, but places like Walmart need to do a better job at warding against bots. Online-only launches are a reseller's dream. Already the price of the PS5 is averaging $1500 on eBay, and it's launch day.

On a thing that frustrates me: Today was a big clean-up day and on multiple occasions when I threw something away with my hand directly over the trash, it somehow fluttered aside and fell on the ground. :brickwall: :censored:

^yes, the aerodymaics of trash can be annoying. And have you noticed how desparately candy wrappers cling to anything rather than falling into the waste bin?

Welcome back, Elmo!

Today's prob is more frustrating than annoying: on Thursday, my uncle was admitted to ICU. He has corona and his chances of survival are microscopic (he has cancer as well). Somehow we take it for granted that people live forever, only because they have always been there. We've never been close - he's very rude and no longer at speaking terms with most of the family - but it still makes me feel sad, partially as it reminds me that my parents might easily be next :(

it's 44 degrees outside now. 7 degrees C =--= with my air on fan the machine displays the temp of the air it is moving about in my apartment--- that is 80 degrees F or 26 2/3 C. so yeah with the windows closed and the fan blowing air it is very hot here---- with the window next to the air --- Open it becomes 76 degrees F or 24 and 2/5 my the temperature I end up setting is 68 that causes the air to work hard and never stop.. of course the window is open so the air need not work extremely hard but yeah.. I take the meds that make me lose my mind--- when I am hot and the psych dr has ... written a note to get help with paying electricity for the air --- but Only in the summer ... I guess. it is just crazy --- my air on my window open --- I am hot still.. and can't sleep when I am hot.. -0- at all--- so yeah frustrated

a kind of solution? To turn the heat that my landlord controls with a valve in my bedroom to all the 15 apartments on my floor... to off--- then like they did last time --- they come to my apartment and turn it back on and say don't touch the heat --- I can do this.. I would save my air conditioner and the people at the end of the pipe of heat are cold now as it is probably I on the other hand Am losing my mind--- with so hot at 80 with the fan-- and such- anyway the air is on for now... ? I don't know if having them come in and check the valve in my bedroom is a good thing? I suppose the ones that are cold with it like it is would not survive.. at all- my whole floor.. ? just on and on--- this problem has not changed since the apartment life I have been in since 1992--- every year year after year.. --- mmmmmmm

what ever-

Could you swap apartments and take the one at the end of the heating line?

Frustrating thing today: we are surrounded by 3 districts that have the highest infetion rate in all of Germany and yet the covidiots in the nearest shop kept trying to crawl into my shopping bag, a few mins ago when I got my lunch. They completely ignored the announcement (at 1 minute intervalls!) to keep 1.5 m distance at all times and then they complain when they get infected and die or infect and kill others. It's infuriating! I am a pacifist but there are moments when even I wish for a really impressive tank. :brickwall:

I pretty much have to find a gym to run at now. There’s not enough street lighting near my house to safely run after dark, and I was running after work but now there’s been a string of unprovoked assaults around the exact time and streets I need to run through.

that sucks :( Are gyms open in your country? In Germany, they are closed.
Maybe, instead of running, you could use one of these wheel-less bicycles and cycle at home? Or run up and down the stairs? You could tell your neighbours you are training for the Empire State Building run ;)
I'm doing a bit of Tai Chi on the roof terrace.

Gyms are open, but there's the questions of safety. They spaced out all the machines 14 feet but it still sucks to have to go.

I can't just do cycling cause I'm training for specific races.
