Things that frustrate us all

@KimMH : there usually are classes at your local library and can probably find some free online as well. You might also want to check out your local used book store; in our local Half Price Books, there are often many useful reference books for learning how to code, etc.

Didn’t think of bookstores- thanks! After I conquer the inter webs I shall be unstoppable! Or at least know what I’m doing which would be enough!

I live across the street from a small airport and a Coast Guard airfield. The Navy sends Chinooks down for some missions that MUST take place after 9pm. Those helos make a huge racket.

The good thing about living in Brooklyn is that it's always noisy so I don't even notice planes, trains, traffic, screams, gunshots...

I really hate when my neighbor leaves the dog out to bark all day, though. I love dogs, but I hate the sound of dogs barking.

Anyone get mad at other drivers when they're doing absolutely nothing wrong? I get annoyed when someone is trying to turn left at a busy intersection with no second lane. Basically, only one vehicle is going to be able to go before it turns red again -- them. But it's not their fault. They have the right to turn left. They shouldn't have to inconvenience themselves to get to their destination.

What exactly do you want to learn, btw? Hubby is an IT guy and could point you numerous free websites that are very helpful.

grrr! My bank is changing their online banking and of course don't explain anything on their website. The customer hotline has a tape running "the current waiting time is above 5 minutes" - it is indeed: my phone's batteries just gave in after 50 minutes in the damned waiting loop. Made an appointment online with a clerk at the local branch for tomorrow morning. The prob is that he will very likely not know the answers either...
I'm hesitant to change banks after 35 years but if they go on like this, I propably shall.

Is this in a left-hand drive country? In that situation it sounds as if there is an issue with the timing sequence at the lights if only one vehicle can turn. What is more annoying is hesitation at give ways when you are behind someone and you watch several opportunities go by that the vehicle ahead of you could have gone at.

^ Does your bank have a decent mobile app?
yes and exactly that is my problem. On their website they offer no alternative. But there are gazillions of customers who have no smartphone and don't intend to buy such a gadget only because the bank wants them to.
I'll certainly stick to my stupidphone and if the bank sticks with their onesided offer they can stick it where a smartphone gets no net access :p There are banks galore who are customer friendly.

I need to talk to a neutral 3rd party that I trust, but I'm not sure that person exists.

My brain is a mess right now. :(

Well, that depends on the nature of your problem. I know that there are certain things that I wouldn't trust anybody with except one or two persons if that, but other things I feel like I could talk about to more people.

I’m honestly not sure tbh. I know that I know too little about a tool I uses every day at work and home to know what i don’t know. Perhaps a few survey type courses online to point me in a direction. I don’t think a second career per se but I am considering a masters in Library Science and I know that computers figure large in that field. Actually putting this into words is helpful. Thanks!

Really Apple...

End of iTunes
iTunes has been the way Apple users listen to music, watch movies and TV shows, hear podcasts, and manage their devices for almost two decades. This year, Apple is finally ready to move into a new era. The company is launching a trio of new apps for the Mac – Music, TV, and Podcasts – to replace iTunes. That matches Apple’s media app strategy on iPhones and iPads. Without iTunes, customers can manage their Apple gadgets through the Music app.

This is stupid.

Now onto trying to find something to save all of my Apple music. Since I do not EVER plan on getting a subscription to Apple Music just to play what I ALREADY paid for!

I'll just have to do so via my external drive as I do not have the room for all of my music at this time.

Looking into other players. Found a nice article about free ones: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/best-free-music-players-for-pc-windows/

Went with MusicBee. And so far it runs my laptop lighter than itunes. Planning of buying Sharepod (I only have the free version for now - and now it'll be that much longer to get it as it's now $30 instead of $20, gee thanks dude) and then syncing everything from that into a folder to be able to sync it to MusicBee. I synced it with Itunes today and it seemed to have worked. So that's one less thing I have to do. Can't sync my ipod with it, but it's no big deal as I can do that with Sharepod.

And well I'll be darned. It transferred a lot of my collection, including burned stuff. So there might not be a lot to transfer with Sharepod.

Opening a bottle of a great wine is like buying a lottery ticket... well, the odds are a great deal better but still... Sometimes you are really disappointed!
