Things that frustrate us all

That is true; I only know what you wrote above. Although I am admittedly curious about how the services you performed are relevant to the story about the cake, you are obviously not required to share anything you don't want to.

Well, that's the problem but I think I can solve it by adding that these people didn't invite me to a bad dinner because they are poor (because they aren't) or because they don't owe me a lot (because they do)... The dinner was bad and the conversation made the TV commercials seem interesting. I drew the line at eating that cake that would have made a better sealant than the one they use on "Shuttlepod One" and I am not talking about the meatloaf.

There's a context to that but it would take too long to get into it.

Totally not reflective on the above because I respect the circumstance of the above and the exchange that followed BUT it does bring to mind eating food someone has presented me with. When I was at Boarding School some of the third formers had crushes on us older girls. I used to drink many a cup of tea brought to me by a giggly turd :o. More like milk with a single tea leaf that had a very brief immersing in water. Then there is now my Father-in-law whose hygiene is a tad ordinary. The grimy knives and forks and dodgy soggy salads. Yet I'll be damned if I don't consume the lot! He goes to a lot of effort so it's not like what what Discofan is talking about. If something is really bad all you have to do is kind of block your nose/taste buds and get through it  Mind you he makes the best sausage rolls ever!

I went through something similar with my mom's service just this weekend. She asked to have my dad's name taken off of her account, so of course they had to set up a new one, which then caused several hours on the phone with them and two days without service. :tantrum:
AT&T did that to my elderly parents. My dad was on a heart-monitor at the time. He wore a monitor and a little modem at their house sent the signal directly to the doctor's office, which was an hour away. When they moved to a new house, they were supposed to keep their old phone number but for some reason, they didn't have it and their phone service at the new house cut off after two days of moving in. My mom spent over an hour trying to get it sorted, then I took over. It was literally HOURS of getting transferred back and forth, getting hung up on, being told it was already fixed and that, hey, can't they do without a phone line for a few days?

In frustration, my parents gave up and my mother drove my dad into town to check in with the doctor every day for three days until their phone service was restored. Unfortunately, AT&T was the only provider at that time. My dad could have died, and AT & T didn't give a fuck.

We have Comcast at our house, after years of only having Entouch--who suck ASS, and cost me several days--maybe a dozen-- of work because the internet went down on a daily basis. We have been VERY happy with Comcast, except for the price, that is. But compared to Entouch, they are wonderful. I'm happy with that.

I finally got the problem fixed with Comcast...after 2 chats, 3 long phone calls with 3 people from India that were increasingly difficult to understand and using several different web browsers on 3 different devices and the Xfinity app. :klingon:

When people just can't see that you are serious when you tell them that you are and in order to get things done you have to show them that you are... the hard way, so to speak.

while I am perfectly ok with the universe thriving for maximum entropy in general, I fail to see why it must concentrate its efforts on my apartment in particular. Not even 5 mins after I tidied up, it's back to its previous state.

You should see my place right now. Can’t even negotiate from one side to the other without exacerbating hip and knee pain.
